This is beyond stupid.

So now someone is going to control and judge how long parents can “reasonably” determine their child is in danger, etc.?

Talk about feeling like you are under the government’s thumb on a daily basis. It’s none of their freaking business. They are not their kids. Now, if we were losing kids like this to the tune of 100,000 a year, there may be some minimal law to...No. There is no excuse for the government to get involved here.

This is a gross “busibody” law. Butt the hell out of people’s lives and let them raise their own kids.

Yep...

Knee-jerk legislation is a bad idea.

Emotion-driven, tear-jerker legislation is a bad idea.

Normally it is Demo-Commies who do that. There is no excuse for someone with an ‘R’ next to their name, who should know better, following suit.

Yup - these laws enacted in response to highly emotional events always have serious unintended consequences and are often abused and selectively enforced.

Arizona has a long list of horror stories because of unintended application or abuse of these kinds of “zero tolerance” laws.

I agree, but this is what we get as a nation, for allowing it to get to the point of not being able to muster twelve reasonably intelligent people to try a relatively simple circumstantial evidence case. If that is where we are now, we should just go ahead and elect Lady Gaga for president next election.

We are, through abortion. If they want to do something that shows they care, take care of that first...

Agreed.

There’s a saying in the legal community: “Tough cases make bad law.”
