'She is a good mother... we were right' Juror defends shock acquittal of Casey Anthony
Daily Mail ^ | July 6, 2011 | John Stevens

An alternate juror in the Casey Anthony trials has said that he believes that Anthony was a good mother and that two-year-old Caylee’s death was just a horrific accident.

The sensational acquittal of Casey Anthony sparked outrage across the U.S. as angry spectators compared the trial’s outcome to the infamous verdict in the OJ Simpson case.

But Russell Huekler, one of five alternate jurors who were present for all the testimony and were sequestered with the 12 other jurors, said he would have given the same verdict and is stunned by the public anger.

There were SEVERAL Nazi references. He/she even said this reminded him/her of 1930’s Germany. Are they removed now?

The “Seig Heil!” comment was directed specifically to me.

These weren’t just typical fare.

She can NOT be tried again. She can walk out of jail tomorrow and tell the world I did it and no one can touch her.

Your comments right now are the best you have made for days.

Very coherent, albeit kind of leaning toward self pity.

No DNA showed up on the duct tape etc. cause poor Caylee floated in flood waters in the heat in a swamp/dump, thanks to someone who "buried" her there!

Divorced, Casey? NO, she was never married, her parents supported the baby Caylee while Casey partied! Before commenting in such a lengthy way, you should really get the facts of the case. Casey also spent the entire day, after Caylee was missing/dead, in bed with her boyfriend who testified on the stand that he even called off work to stay in bed all day with Casey! Tatoos, shortly after Casey went missing, buying beer, partying, smell of decomposition in the trunk of HER car, identified by her own father, mother, and others who have smelled that smell in their lifetime. All say it's an odor you never forget.

One thing which can happen to warp a jury is if a lawyer or lawyers happen to know the jurors and can strike a jury to get whatever type the lawyer wants.

I knew a lawyer in a small town in Alabama who nearly retired and alcoholic. He did little business but other lawyers would pay him to help them strike a jury because he had been so good at it in his day and he knew everyone.

You’ve got to understand where this woman is coming from. She didn’t get to see the news reports, didn’t hear Jane and Nancy lay out the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. So she didn’t have the “advantage” all the rest of us had in coming to this decision. It is not her fault that she was sequestered and couldn’t watch CNN ... so if she’s come to a different conclusion than most of the rest of the world, that is the reason. (/s)

I didn't watch Jane or Nancy or CNN or Fox or any of that. I read transcripts of depositions, of certain testimony in court. I didn't agree with this verdict.

From this article, an alternate juror said this,

............"'Yeah, the behavior was bizarre, but what I took from that is that the family was very dysfunctional.

Because they were so dysfunctional, that was the norm for them,' Mr Huekler told Good Morning America.

'Casey didn't just start lying for the first 31 days [after Caylee disappeared]. She had been lying for the past two years...I felt it was the norm for her.'".............

So because it was normal for her to lie, when it was explained that really, really this time she was telling the truth....that it was an accident.....he believes her? Explain that kind of logic/justification.

It was not a drowning accidental or otherwise. She even mocked the invesigators, who questioned her in that regard, in a prison phone call with her parents, she laughed and laughed that they would say Caley drowned because -- said Casey -- that is not what happened to Caley... then, it turns out, she was in the same jail block with a young woman who had her child drown and her father (the grandfather) found the child... the mother was in jail because she had been in trouble before for child neglect.... and "suddenly" in opening arguments Jose Baez suddenly opined that Caley was never missing, but infact drowned and George (a former cop) decided they should just hide Caley's body rather than call the police...... you do not go to jail for an accidental drowning unless you are like the aforementioned woman who had been in trouble for child neglect, and Baez never produced one shred of evidence to back these statements, they used a smoke and mirror defense......

I have no doubt Casey did it...

Her hair in the trunk, chloroform in the trunk - smell from the trunk.

And for all the people saying there was no forensic evidence to tie Casey to a dead Caylee, well, they're right, since Cindy washed the pants Casey was wearing that smelled like death.

Scary that people like this guy make it on to jury’s. Nancy Grace (yep I watch her when cases like this come up) went through the jury resumes’ last night. Two only have 11th grade educations, one was arrested along with a boyfriend for beating up the girls father, several others have records of arrest for DUI and/or drugs. Prosecution didn’t want a lot of these jurors and the judge, wanting to stick to his schedule, would not allow them to be dismissed in voir dire.

I know the feeling. My now 40 year old daughter wandered out of the kitchen while we had company and fell asleep under her bed at age 4. Talk about utter panic. We lived in a neighborhood with lots of pools and as my husband ran from yard to yard he prayed he wouldn’t find her floating in one of them. The polic were called and a search ensued. We never thought to look uner the bed.
When we asked her why she was under the bed she simply said that she didn’t want to mess the covers.

I agree with you, Judge Perry had an agenda of TIME and he stuck to it, whether it was wise or not, we now live with this verdict!!!!! Sad, that the world is in such a hurry, that justice is NOT served!

Even though you are not worth commenting to. Time will tell who is right and who is wrong. It is not on your side. Watch and learn.

You are simply wrong on the facts. The evidence was quite clear that the child was missing for more than a month. In fact the defense admitted that in court. The jurors simply ignored the law, the evidence and common sense where the aggravated abuse statute is concerned. They nullified the aggravated abuse statute just like the OJ jury nullified the murder statute. And the amount of people who are sanguine about that is right out of Kafka.

I am not 'wrong on the facts'. My point was that the jurors did not believe that Casey knew for a fact that Caylee was 'missing'. I won't dispute that they decided to believe what they apparently wanted to believe in this case and I have stated, quite clearly, that I disagree with their verdict.

You should be advised that self-righteousness, even in a just cause, is not compelling. Our collective disapproval and disgust won't change the verdict - and your outrage has been duly noted. I suggest that you give it a rest.
