I've met that type too.

To be fair I've also met White and Latina women of the same bent...single mom to 3 kids of three different fathers, claiming to be such good Christian women.

I'm not saying people can't make mistakes, or can't convert after living a less than perfect lifestyle, but there is a specific pattern to that “type” you describe.

If my local Church priest/ deacon mentions economic justice or wage equality in a Homily again, I WILL interrupt Mass right there a blast the speaker in front of the congregation.

I'm not Catholic but I'd pay to attend that service.

Most "religious" doesn't mean anything...sorry to say.

I attended a 90% "black" church a few years ago....And many folks there..were just there because of they wanted to be "seen", tradition, family, habit, looking for a spouse, and or a date.

Frankly many people of all colors exhibit the same nature.

I’m not sure if I would list myself as very or moderately religious.
How does one differentiate, is there a scale?
I'm thinking one believes or doesn't.

Followers of Islam are also very religious, as evidenced by how much they love cutting peoples heads off and blowing up children. If they had an actual relationship with the God of Heaven, we would see a different behavior.

If there were any truth to this, abortion and the gay agenda alone would destroy the Democratic Party so I sincerely doubt they take religion too seriously.

The dress up is really for the trip to the local eatery afterward. ‘Round here, it’s Golden Corral and it lasts from lunch till dinner because the manager doesn’t have the nerve to make them leave. They call it the Sunday twofer......lunch and dinner for the price of lunch.

I worked with a real down to earth, management level, black lady years ago. She told me you could always tell a baptist minister was tending his flock. He’d come out of the house either pickin’ his teeth or pullin’ up his pants.
I ‘bout $hit laughfin’.... she was serious.
