If the natural born citizenship issue had been resolved before the election or shortly after then we would NOT NOT NOT have had the following:

The basis for NBC was reaffirmed by the Senate when they declared McCain eligible because he was born to two citizen parents (even near the turn of the 18th century a child born anywhere in the world to two U.S. citizen parents was considered natural born). The same standards were just never applied to Senator Barry Soetoro.

That was a non-binding resolution. It had no force of law and it was only a Senate Resolution, the House took no similar action. It was purely symbolic.

The House Of Representatives passed a non-binding resolution which declared that “the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961.”
That’s House Resolution 593, 111th Congress (2009). The House Resolution also has no force of law and did not get introduced in the Senate. Purely symbolic as a part of the Commemoration of Hawaii’s 50th anniversary.
