The jury did exactly what it is supposed to do when the prosecution doesn't prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Examples of judicial abuse and excess are so common that I can't believe anyone wants to give judges any more power.

Judging from the reaction to this case, people have widely differing standards of "reasonable doubt." Is there any reasonable doubt that the mother is a pathological liar? And why should she lie?
