Shades of Dukakis.

If Perry runs he can beat Zero and Dums about the head for siding with murderers and illegal murderers at that.

It almost seems that Obama WANTS to run against Perry. He knew full-well that there was no way he was going to interfere and still be viable.

So what weakness does Obama see in Perry...I see many, but I’m going to sleep now.

a bill introduced by Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., chairman of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, that would provide for federal review of capital cases involving foreigners denied consulate contact.

Good to see Senator Leahy looking out for foreigners. What about citizens? Isn't that what his job is all about?

God Blessed Texas and God continues to Bless Texas. This is right and this is just.

My only regret is that this debris wasn't executed on July Fourth as a symbol of our Independence.

I also think it’s important for people to see just how DISCONNECTED liberals (including Bush-43, in this case) are from the CRIME that was committed within our state.

I have no doubt that this Illegal knew how Texas deals with these acts (I doubt anyone in the world doesn’t know)...so maybe he should have thought twice and did his deed in California - where he would get a lot of sympathy.

In Texas, we have the death penalty and we use it. If you come to Texas and kill somebody, we will kill you back. (Ron “tater” White)

Here is why I agree with Texas’ decision. I think my logic is their logic.

The guy is Hispanic and was living in Texas for 16 years (was 18 then).

For all intents and purposes he was American, wnet to American schools. Considered himself American as the American lifestyle was all he knew. He did not know he could ask to meet with mexican consulate officials before talking with police. A mexican national would be more likely to know that, they’d certainly know they were a mexican citizen and not a US citizen.

Now does Texas, every time they arrest and detain a hispanic person, of which millions reside in Texas, have to ask if they are citizens or ask if they want to speak with Mexican consulate officials before they can question them?

Further, in this particular case how would it have made a difference? Are the mexican consulate officials going to tell him not to tell the truth to police or give him advice not to talk with police? Not to admit he did it? He did confess to police he did it.

Hispanics in the US - if they do not say they want to have mexican officials meet with them before questioning for crimes, and say they are mexican citizens, we ought to assume that this means they are US citizens. That is exactly what Texas assumed. It is not an unreasonable assumption.

Perry had not made a decision by Tuesday evening, Perry spokeswoman Katherine Cesinger said in an emailed statement, adding, “That said, if you commit the most heinous of crimes in Texas, you can expect to face the ultimate penalty under our laws, as in this case, where Leal was convicted of raping and bludgeoning a 16-year-old girl to death.”

In the event the Supreme Court fails to act, the Republican governor of Texas, Rick Perry – who may seek the GOP Presidential nomination next year – might intervene.

If Perry gets involved, Leal’s days will be numbered.
In his decade in power, Perry has rejected clemency in 230 executions in the state.

'If you come here and kill one of us, We. Will. Kill. You. Back.' Ron White does a great job of explaining justice in Texas.
