Shaina Perry remembers the punch to her face, blood streaming from a cut over her eye, her backpack with her asthma inhaler, debit card and cell phone stolen and then the laughter.
"They just said 'Oh, white girl bleeds a lot," said Perry, 22, who was attacked at Kilbourn Reservoir Park over the 4th of July holiday weekend.
Though Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn noted Tuesday that crime is color blind, he called the Sunday night looting of a convenience store near the park and beatings of a group of people who had gone to the park disturbing, outrageous and barbaric.

Here in NJ (and I suspect in other areas as well), Hispanics are displacing blacks in the workforce, the cities, prisons, just about everywhere. I don’t think the illegals will cause much trouble, because up here they still act as though they’re here illegally - they tend to keep low profiles. They know that they can be lawfully deported at any time, and act accordingly. There are always a few bad apples, but for the most part they are (in their own way) reviving areas that would otherwise be ghost towns (hence the lack of immigration enforcement, though financially it is a losing deal for Americans).
I’ve had people offer me free Yankees and Devils tickets, and politely declined; it’s not like I would take my children into those sh!tholes (which aren’t far away at all), and see no point in further enriching those areas beyond my involuntary tax contributions.
I learned a lesson a few years back when I took the kids to see the Christmas Tree in Rockefeller Center; I wasn’t interested, but people convinced me it was all better now. It wasn’t; we got to literally step over people sleeping in a subway station, and I had to explain that to my children. Never again; once you’re too old to buy fireworks or drugs, there is no reason to visit NYC.
Well, I can’t argue that we all share in being comfortable and complacent. We trusted some because we thought they were Americans and had the best interests of the country at heart.
How disillusioning to find out we were snookered by many of them.
I think the “comfortable” has already dropped by the wayside, and complacent is following it; too many Americans now perceive that there future is destroyed, and they aren’t happy about it. At the very least, the divisions are becoming more pronounced.
Some parents have turned in their children, police have found some of the 50 or so perps.
Town hall meeting with Chief Flynn and the citizens.
Obligatory, waffling editorial from the newspaper
Good points.
Absolutely. It has to begin at home.
