Many of them have gone on to obtain college degrees and hold jobs........What isn't that illegal ,to hold a job you will need to have fake or stolen documents. Why have they increased the age back up to 35 ? Military officials say the DREAM Act could help / keyword/could.

Maybe, MAYBE a path to permanent residency, but NEVER a path to citizenship.

It would be best for them to go back home and come in out of the darkness.

Mexico isn't the worst place to have to go.

You are exactly right.
For an illegal to hold a job it would require them to falsify documents which is another crime

They could NOT serve in our military unless they bought some pretty good fake id which is a crime.

WHY would we reward people who knowingly break our laws.

Deny them jobs and benefits, they will go back.

The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the act could yield $1.4 billion in tax revenues from working immigrants. Military officials say the DREAM Act could help meet a recruiting shortage when U.S. troops return from Iraq and Afghanistan and the economy improves.

Both those statements are probably made-to-order for this situation and have little to do with reality if examined closely. Evaluating this always has pluses and minuses. We hear about exaggerated pluses and hear nothing of the minuses.

It’s a buzzword fest starting with the usual kindergarten-level DREAM acronym.

Americanized? What is that in a legal sense? Meaningless of course.

So they call it home. I call the vehicles on the local Lexus lot ‘mine’ but if I took one I would be prosecuted.

Excusing the parents’ crime does nothing to dissuade others from committing same.

A country they’ve never known or called home? Why so many Mexican flags then?

What a load of rubbish.

I don’t agree with this but I won’t be surprised if republicans eventually go along with it.

They could at least make their acquiescence contingent upon deporting the other 12 to 34 million illegals.

But they won’t.

Let’s just be frank here. This isn’t a ‘dream act’, it’s a nightmare act.

Why is it that everyone’s poor feelings have to be dealt with, except the feelings of the citizens of the United States?

We have to abide by the law. Non citizens don’t. Tell me who has more rights. It’s pointless to be a citizen these days. You have less rights than non-citizens.

If any amnesty is given it must NOT include the right to vote. This is the price of coming here illegally. This is also the price the Dems must pay for pandering to people willing to violate the law.

Isn't there already a path to citizenship for military service?

All this crappy act does is put going to college (for no matter what worthless degree) on par with military service.

Doesn't America have a more than ample supply of home-grown people with worthless degrees? If we need to import, let's at least import something we actually need.

The nasty little surprise is, that once we give citizenship to these “Americanized” children of Illegals. Then they can turn right around and sponsor Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Brothers, Sisters etc. for fast tracked citizenship. That's the dirty secret democrats don't want you to know and why the “Nightmare” act needs to opposed at all costs.

the whole “...or military service” is simply BS! It is a straw man argument!

ALL persons who enlist and serve honorably in the United States military for 4+ years are able to request and receive US Citizenship! This has been the case since the 1970’s!!!

This is basically a way for people who just want to go to college to get the same citizenship path as those who are willing to put their lives on the line - BS!!!!!!

Screw this, screw President Obama and screw all these damn illegals!

SEND THEM HOME!!!

Yes - let’s reward lawbreaking.

It worked for Geithner, Rangel, etc.

Just not for you white middle class slobs.

Now pay your taxes - your new neighbors who are being rewarded for breaking the law need the money. :)
