Morning all, didn't see a thread for today so I created one.
Manslaughter was an option the jury could have chosen.
I just hear Casey’s aunt say “Shame on this jury. They were either too stupid or just lazy.” She made a good point..they came to work today all dressed up. So THIS MORNING they already knew their verdict.
TX. You appear to be thinking logically. Did you notice Baez in closing say that he would not claim that the body was not transported in the car? I do believe the Dogs. Lets stay tuned there may be more to come.
Nope...aggravated manslaughter...very different.
It has intent, no accident.
Incredible logic on display. Why, everyone knows that you would want to turn an 'accident' into a murder trial. You know, because an accident due to negligence carries far more serious consequences than murder.
Dear God, what has happened to the collective intellect of this nation? Obama's second term is a given.
I feel so sad for Caylee tonight. Don’t know why.....I can’t stay mad about Casey’s acquittal....just an overwhelming sense of injustice for that little baby.
I’m going to call what’s going to happen next. I hope I’m wrong, but probably not.
I believe when Casey walks, George and Cindy will take her back. I believe then at some point, George will “revenge kill” Casey, then take his own life. I think he pulled away from suicide two years ago understanding he’d have to be there to testify and had he killed himself, Casey could have pinned everything on him and gotten away with it. But now that she’s gotten off anyway, and because of how he feels about the loss of his grand-daughter, and coupled with the reaction to today’s verdict, if Casey goes home, she’s probably as good as dead. I wouldn’t put it past George that he has already planned everything out. He’ll believe they can both go and see Caylee and sort it out from there what happened.
I could be wrong, but I think the odds of this happening are very high.
Not only did the Prosecutor try to dump juror #4, the judge refused because he bought the defense argument that it was based on race.
All it took was a little common sense. It is sickening that the evidence was ignored in this case. And, yes, there was plenty of evidence if anyone actually listened to it. Obviously, this jury didn’t.
I must have missed the EVIDENCE that proved it was an accident!
I would be scared to death if I was her Grandmother. Casey is capable of anything and the Grandmother was going to have her arrested for stealing money.
“Anybody with any doubt about whether or not Casey did this is not just unreasonable, but also reason-challenged, in my opinion.”
Touche...sir.
Although I think many recent cases show some jurists are stupid, I do not think anywhere near all of them are. I just got a summons to appear for jury duty (this is the first one since I've lived here for the past five years). I am disabled and, if I am chosen, I will have some difficulties, but I have no intention of asking to be excused. I feel this is my duty as an American, so I will not shirk this opportunity like so many others do.
Perhaps the reason it seems so many who serve on juries are biased or ignorant is that the rest of the people who could make a huge difference in our justice system look at this call as a nuisance and do anything to "get out of it". If we don't do what we are asked to do to ensure others are judged fairly, there may come a time when we, ourselves, are faced with needing a "jury of our peers" and only those who are "stupid" will be sitting in our jury box.
I’m sorry, I didn’t say anything about DNA....
However, back when circumstantial evidence was more widely accepted, a lot of innocent people were convicted.
I am not saying that Casey is innocent. I am saying the prosecution did a crappy job....along with the investigators.... I’m sorry but of all the trials I have been in, I have never seen a judge that would have allowed half the shennanigans this judge did....he was also awful and obviously partial. That is not professional. It greatly affected the credibility of the trial.
I do not know who killed the baby, although I highly suspect the mom definitely was involved somehow. Just because a jury can’t tell you WHO killed a victim, doesn’t PROVE that the person on trial did it....
Again, I personally believe the mom was involved somehow, but that doesn’t mean a case should be decided on my “gut” feeling. Lots of unanswered questions there and George Anthony lied on the stand. That is one thing I know for sure. Anyone with an ounce of deception training knows that.
Fact is, there are still way too many unanswered questions that can be answered by people other than Casey.
I think the thing that bothered me the most was the fact that somehow the body had been tampered with. Not cool. I didn’t catch that whole testimony, so I am still not clear on the meter reader and his role 100%
When I saw Cindy Anthony sigh in relief when the verdict was read and then get up and leave, I knew then she was part of the defense strategy by having her lie on the stand under oath.
I saw the opposite from George, but they were both a willing part of the defense, IMO.
I wouldn’t p*ss on an Anthony if they were on fire after this.
Poor little Caylee never had a chance in that family. Not one person protected her till this day.
People are convicted of crimes on a lot less everyday. This wasn't an episode of CSI.
I invite everyone to go back and listen to her phone call home from jail trying to get her boyfriends phone number that they played during the closing arguments. That freaking tattoo. Rewatch the trial. This is horrible.
“You should have done the prosecutions closing.”
It’s not just jurors that don’t understand mathematical odds. It’s prosecutors too. And a lot of otherwise intelligent people.
For example, I always suspected Sean Hannity was the most intellectually challenged conservative talk-show host. Tonight he confirmed it in my mind.
