Needless to say, the comments at DU are absolutely vile.

>>“The new President has decided not to continue this loan and the bust has now been returned. It is on display at the Ambassador’s Residence.”<<

That is the same as throwing it back to England and saying “no, thanks, we don’t much respect Mr. Churchill.”

That bust was intended to be “on loan” to the USA forever. The “loan” part had to do with arcana such as owning the image and, frankly, the right of GB to request it back, which they may have done given barry the zero’s complete back-turning on our allies.

But it took one son of chicago’s street thuggery to break the lineage on our side.

*** Returning the Churchill bust was the lowest-class thing ANY US President (I capitalize the office, not the current resident) has ever done. ***

Yes it was. But besides that, the Churchill Bust was not his to give. That was property of the U.S. Government and 'somebody' should have stopped him (this has always really bugged me).

Just like they did when Hitlery tried carting off White House furniture. The WH Curator iirc, told them to get it off the truck and haul it all back in.

They also made the $1m price tag prominent, when you can bet they don’t do that for honorees on the left.

And the U.S. Ambassador to Britain didn't bother to attend the dinner honoring Reagans centenary. What class this administration shows :

The Missing US Ambassador at the feast for Ronald Reagan
