This is a doozy, even as it's still unverified. According to Anonymous, hacker @Abhaxas just leaked a lengthy text file revealing part of Florida's voter database. Included are voter statistics, candidates, and electoral race data.
In the release, Abhaxas writes:
So, this is a little ironic. Here is inside details of florida voting systems. Now.. who still believes voting isn't rigged? If the United States Government can't even keep their ballot systems secure, why trust them at all? FAIL!
The AntiSec movement mayhem continues as the latest document dump is targeting the Democrats of Orange Country. While Abhaxas was busy dumping parts of the Florida voting database, it seems that Anonymous was busy with a leak of their own. In a tweet, AnonymousIRC comments, Honestly, we dont even care if its authentic. We are inside your networks.
The data, which was posted to Pastebin, appears to be details of the Orange Country member list as well as a Precinct Committeeperson Handbook. Anonymous comments in the release, Greetings Orange County Dems, you can thank Roberta Bailey for allowing us access to this information. Lulz, thanks for your members list. :)
The leak is also a part of OpOrlando which began late last month after members of the Food Not Bombs activist group were detained for feeding the homeless.

“voter statistics, candidates, and electoral race data. “
Sounds like publicly available information.
It’s the info that you would build a redistricting map out of...stat’s to prove ward-by-ward...how Democrats or Republicans vote. The value? As long as social security numbers aren’t in the system....I think it’s mostly worthless data except for politicians.
“Sounds like publicly available information.”
Agree. Now if they have a database showing how each voter voted in the primaries and November, then there is a problem, a big problem. But a database like that would not surprise me a bit, given our electronic voting machines.
It’s a goldmine to political campaigns... and it show how easily the vote can be hacked.
Great...people in Florida show pass out the list and check to see if each voter is a “live resident”..........doing the work the bosses don’t want people to do
Good golly, it looks like the hackers are out in force I see.
It is publicly available information and is essential to political party operations. The inclusion of materials unique to the Democratic party suggests that a Democratic party voting database was accessed, not the Florida Secretary of State’s database.
This is exactly why the state has no business with any of our SSN info. The SSN is for tax purposes and none other. Medical providers have no business DEMANDing your or my SSN. State license or county offices have NO BUSINESS with our SSN.
REFUSE.
Had to laugh. You just contradicted yourself.
There is no way to know HOW someone voted - because of the secret ballot.
This info is available if you apply for it. You have to go to each Registrar's office and you can get it. It costs a few buck.
I think the valuable thing here is that this is the whole state compiled into one location. That is REAL knowledge.
Our Republican Town Committee has this list. We got it from the Registrar.
Trying reading for comprehension.
Okay, I get it now. My apologies.
The ambiguous part is "not publicly available". It implies that it is privately available.
If you'd said, "It is not publicly available possible to just look up how individuals voted. That is why we have a secret ballot" it would have been much clearer.
BTW, my comprehension is fine if the composition is clear.
In my previous post: This info is available if you apply for it. You have to go to each Registrar's office and you can get it. It costs a few buck.
Voter info is not public. You can't just google somebody's voter history. Don't be dense.
Sheesh, talk about reading comprehension...
“The leak is also a part of OpOrlando which began late last month after members of the Food Not Bombs activist group were detained for feeding the homeless. “
Is it only me to whom this sounds odd? Detained for feeding the homeless?
You can’t be serious.
Why a hacker would “hack” into the system is beyond me. For 20 bucks I go twice a year to the county courthouse and purchase a disk with all the information listed. Put it into a database program and, I and my friends, use the data to help get people elected. The information includes name, address (both residence and mailing), whether or not they voted in primary and/or general going back 5 cycles. Other information like precinct number, congressional district number ... lots of stuff is right there, and readily available to anyone who wants it.
