“Reckless Endangerment” is a study of contemporary Washington, where showing “compassion” with other people’s money pays off in the currency of political power, and currency.

If the system crashes, and if we spend some years struggling to survive in Nightmare World, perhaps one good thing may come out of it -- perhaps people will learn that government is not a legitimate source of charity. "Not yours to give" as Davey Crockett said. Just run the courts, the mail, and national defense. Any politician who expresses "compassion" should be run out of town on a rail.

Will got this one right. It begs the question of why did it take him so long? Some of us had it figured out years ago. And I wonder how much of Johnson's "compensation" funded OTHER Demonrats around the nation. Kinda makes the drug money launderers look like pathetic.

Goos morning, everyone. This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejooice and be glad in it! I began my Sunday morning with Adriane Rogers, “Love Worth Finding” to see that the electronic church is celebrating this Independence Day by refreshing our memories of how this country was founded, what this country is based on, and our responsibility to the future of our country. Yesterday I said that every father should read the Declaration of Indpendence to their families prior to putting the first hot dog onto the barbecue,. Pastor Rogers went further than that. He said it is up to every father to tell their children these things, for that way we can find our way back to our humble beginnings, not to stray again. It was a four star service.

Then came In Touch with the background an enormous American Flag, miniaturizaing the Chaplain of the U.S. Congress in stature, and he is a tall man, but glorifying
God at this most important time of celebration. His message was powerful and true, being on “Free Indeed”. That Christ came to set us free from sin. It was magnificent in content and delivery. I only hope that Americans, such as myself, with hearing, seeing and walking problems were faithfully tuned in this morning to hear these unforgetable words of wisdom.

When we put our trust back into God, we will be free, indeed.

Much better to bump the other thread, which has worthwhile additional discussion and links.

The book's a great read. And it's not the typical product of a NY Times reporter. For a discussion of the politics surrounding the issue, I highly recommend Peter Schweizer’s Architects of Ruin.
