Two other Perry-backed issues - an immigration measure to ban so-called sanctuary cities and legislation to prohibit intrusive airport pat-downs - could also enhance the Texas governor's stature among conservative activists though the measures ultimately died in the Legislature.

The sanctuary cities bill was killed off in large part due to Rick Perry's largest donor. In hindsight, it was clear that the legislation was never going to happen and Perry probably knew this, given that his biggest donor was against it. It was a win-win situation though, Perry's donors get to sleep easy knowing they'll still have the illegal labor around and Perry comes out looking like he's tough on illegal immigration when the speeches and actions of his between 2001-2010 prove the exact opposite.

You're reading too much into that. Perry is not that deep, and I'm tossing in the TTC and campaigning for a pro-abortion/pro-gay marriage/pro-gun control candidate in 2008 as well.

Everything Perry does that pisses us off tends to be tied to a Perry friend or associate, and the vaccinations were a part of that. Perry's friend and former chief of staff works for Merck and this was an attempt to help his friend out, nothing more, nothing less.

Perry doesn't have ulterior motives, he has friends that he tries to help out at the expense of Texas taxpayers, and that is definitely Texas politics as usual.

What’s with the ALL CAPS in the Miami Herald article?

The last time I read an article IN ALL CAPS was a news release from North Korea.

Which makes him electable, you have a problem with that?

What the hell is your problem?

Did I write anything that was incorrect or misleading? Did I knock Perry? Or his supporters?

Or did I identify exactly what he is -- a conservative politician -- as opposed to what some people think he might be (a conservative)?

Since when does one get knocked on FreeRepublic for telling the truth?

Huh?

Sorry for the outburst. I'm simply getting tired of taking crap for telling the truth on this site. It appears to offend some people.

[Miami Herald article] Two other Perry-backed issues - an immigration measure to ban so-called sanctuary cities and legislation to prohibit intrusive airport pat-downs - could also enhance the Texas governor's stature among conservative activists though the measures ultimately died in the Legislature.

Bullshine.

Perry backed the anti-groping and anti-"sanctuary cities" bills very cynically, as a posture he struck early in the session in full knowledge that his real allies in the Lege, notorious RiNO's lieut. gov. David Dewhurst and house speaker (elected with 100% 'Rat support!!!) and ultra-RiNO Joseph R. Straus III, would kill both measures.

Meanwhile, Perry signed off on an anti-conservative reapportionment of the Texas state house of representatives that will result in a net reduction of the present 2:1 GOP majority at the expense, 100%, of Texas conservative Republicans, eight of whom were "paired off" in fratricidal redrawings of district boundaries. The Democrats were absolutely delighted!

Worse, the sanctuary cities and anti-gropedown bills came back to life in the special session, and Perry and pals were at pains, very awkwardly and publicly, to kill the bills by dead of night while pretending to walk the other way -- like a Mafia killing.

Rick Perry absolutely supported killing those bills, and his expressions of support were blackhearted and cynical.

RiNO-Rainbow-Bilderberger Rick! He is not a conservative. Never was, never will be.

Clarity-in-posting, what-you-said bump.

Rick Perry is no conservative. He's only "conservative" by comparison with someone like Arlen Specter or Olympia Snowe, and that ain't nearly enough.

I don’t know why this article touts tea party support

The MSM are desperate to head Sarah Palin off at the pass, and Perry and Bachmann are just their latest favored Judas horses to bring the Tea Party people into the RNC corral behind a traditional Ruling Class RiNO like Romney or Huntsman.

The working model right now is, build up Perry and Bachmann with a lot of press attention, to draw away support from Palin, scare her out of the race entirelys or kill the funding available for her planned campaign, and then use either or both candidates as VP nominees to bring the disaffected Tea Partiers to Romney -- "He's the best we can do, do you want four more years of Obama, the best is enemy of good enough, Daddy knows best, blah blah blah" -- all the same old garbage we heard in 2008, all over again.

How did ordinary, middle-class, West Texan Rick Perry get “in” with the Bildebergs?

He was invited, in both 2007 and 2010.

The Bilderbergers are like the Key Club and the Harvard Porcellians -- they tap you.

Self-adlecting Masters of the Universe -- there are only about 35 "permanent" members.

Which makes him electable, you have a problem with that?

Is it axiomatic with you that no conservative can win?

Is it axiomatic with you that to get elected, a Republican has to be a lying, low-down, 'Rat-weasel RiNO who changed labels but not his stripes, and lies to the public constantly on campaign and then stabs conservatives vigorously and constantly in the back -- like McCain's and Romney's people have been doing nonstop for two years to Sarah Palin, deriding her as a "snowbilly" and a hick clothes-horse and retailing rumors in the 'Rat-infested major media?

Signify to me. I want to know. Clarify my perception of the beau ideal of Republican candidacy.

Is it okay if he's a baby-killer and bank-robber, if he just beats the 'Rats?
