We have been all through all the old stats I had from 2005 which showed 38 million illegals then with only 2 million of them visa overstays but the argument may be moot since we both want the same result. Get rid of the leaches and bring in only a small amount of foreigners per year.Let’s bring in only a few smart guys and let it go at that.

God bless Bray. I’m going to clear my upcoming calendar to get more involved in local politics.

I’ve been back and forth, lacking faith....but Sussex county is too under Tea Party control.

Also....big announcement for moi....GOT A PAYING WRITING JOB!

I tried to do politics but the publication does not do politics. So I asked what else (I knew the editor, worked for him before...how I got the job of course). He said...look around.

So I decided....TADA...gonna be a Reality Show Columnist!

Below, link to my first column....for all ye food junkees:

http://www.themortonreport.com/entertainment/television/the-next-food-network-star-and-masterchef-all-about-the-food/

Got my pic/bio and goodness I’m on some kind of Twitter feed, oh and Facebook. Been followed by some of the Food Network Star and MasterChef contenders, God bless, and got a bunch of likes on Facebook.

I didn’t do any of this, and, for modesty purposes, heh...I got my butt rammed out by...GASP...an editor. Never much liked editors...Nobody every said they wanted to grow up to be a great editor as I always say.

gotta stop with the folksy tone...The Morton Report is sophisticated. Also, and for this I am embarrassed...I spelled Gordon Ramsay’s name wrong. Not much worse than spelling the main person in your story wrong.

Had to kiss the editor’s butt a bit, promised that I am fast learner....heh, funny how money makes you more respectful.

Anyway, now got to sit and rearrange my finances as I’ve made quite a bit of money (well by my standards) on writing this year....Chicken Soup for the Soul things/ad revenue from my Blog. For this gig, it’s starting out all right and I can submit one column every day. Don’s know if I’ll do that much but hey, I can write a column like this in about fifteen minutes....nice little sideline.

But hey mon...TAXES! ACCCCCKKKK!!!! gotta pay taxes on this money, losing property tax discount. If I don’t watch out, might get to a point where I start losing SS money.

World looks different when they’re in there taking YOUR money.

Heh.

Are you kidding me??? A Democrat celebrating the Fourth of July??? Forget it!!! Obama and his Democrat Party are more likely to celebrate the birth of the “Third Reich” or the birth of Adolf Hitler!!! Or, maybe they will recite “The Communist Manifesto” with their media spinners and boot lickers!!!

Cornyn Thinks ethanol subsidies really will be phased out.

This thinking is why I despise the GOP leadership. Weak men as Cornyn have no clue about economics or Liberty. Ethanol subsidies and the mandates should be ended immediately. No if, ands or buts. Anything phased out usually isn't really phased out.

A dynamic, free economy would quickly rebound once freed from the chains of command and control and insane subsidies. Millions of citizens lost their jobs "suddenly" since the Marxist took power. It's part of life.

Make the parasites of government lose their jobs suddenly. Make the parasites receiving subsidies suddenly lose taxpayer paid easy money.

The evil government parasite class has nearly destroyed our Republic. This includes most in the GOP leadership. I pray in 2012 they can be replaced with "slash and burn" Patriots.

Thanks for the repost. Very interesting. Didn’t see it last week. Ever since the ‘rapture’ my itty bitty net book has been “fritzing” on me (2 visits to the Geeks,,,always blame the machine, of course). Meantime will be holding Boehner’s feet to the fire on his “I won’t blink” quote on raising debt limit. Enjoy your weekend...

Good for you Pat. Nice little read and I bet you can spit those out in no time flat. My business has been exploding too: www.braylog.com

Took your advice and am writing a novel in the extra minutes and is a lot of fun. It takes place in 2022 in the Republic of Texas after the collapse of America. In that Country you wouldn’t have to worry about making money and paying extra taxes.

Enjoy your family on the 4th.

An illegal aided and abetted by the MSM. And you have Martinez who helped get an amnesty bill passed thru the Senate in 2006 (Hagel-Martinez) that was stopped in the House. There was no one on the panel to provide the other side of the story. Will was the token RINO to say yes and amen to the pro-amnesty panel. Disgusting.

It's also worth noting that George "Pro-Amnesty Panel" Will hearts Rick "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" Perry.

And the discussion of the Constitution was laugable. This country is in deep trouble.

Agreed, kabar. It was eye-opening. George Will pointed out that in general, obese people have higher health care costs due to diabetes, other conditions. He then asked the other panelists if they thought the Constitution gave Congress the power to mandate obese people attend Weight Watchers (using the interstate commerce clause). Dyson essentially said, "I don't know," and the other dude said it would be up to the Supreme Court.

Liberal minds are scary.

If the USG would drop the tariff on importing ethanol, it could be competitive with other fuels. Instead we subsidize our ethanol and tax everyone else's who tries to export the stuff to us.

Are you serious, competitive?? that's laughable. Ethanol would quickly disappear from the marketplace if we eliminated subsidies and mandates.

All the support mechanisms (non free market) to bring ethanol to the consumer would NOT exist except for taxpayer funds. In a competitive market, ethanol would NOT be imported because other products would be far more less costly to bring to market.

Ethanol exists ONLY because the idiots in government use our hard earned taxes and issued regulations to make us use it.

As far back as I remember... re-litigating” has always been promised... and that promise is never fulfilled.

Absolutely. The other day I posted a brief history of the deficit outrage over the past 30 years. We nearly got a Constitutional Convention in the 80s over a Balanced Budget Amendment. it fell two states short. So panicked was Washington over this nuclear option they passed Gramm-Rudman which had spending caps and sequestration formulas to lock up spending if revenues fell short of projections.

It was quickly declared unconstitutional but not before taking the wind from the sails of the BBA movement.

Additional attempts have been made through strictly legislative means since all to appease the rabble when outrage over deficits flare. However, each one is more and more toothless. Look at the sham Obama/Pelosi/Reid did with "Statutory Pay-as-you-go" and look at the exploded deficits and lack of budgets.

All sides are guilty. In 2005, Tom DeLay declared they had a fat free budget and refused to allow members, like Jeff Flake (R-AZ) to propose an amendment for additional cuts to offset new spending for $331 billion in Katrina relief.

The TeaParty movement in 2010 was great in that it pushed a lot more deficit hawks into the House. It may not be enough because, while it pushed the 'go-along-to-get-along' Republicans towards fiscal sanity, there are still the Democrats in charge in the Senate and a Democratic president hell bent on not solving these issues. He's obstinate, petulant and priggish. As Democrat presidents go, poll-driven Clinton was far better than extreme ideologue Obama.

2012 will be the last stand. If Obama and the Democrats win, we'll see a new debt-busting stimulus, higher taxes, tighter regulations, expanded unionization with crushing perks, more immigration, continued high unemployment all as ObamaCare is getting phased in. Everything they propose is a drag on the economy. Our misery brings them power.

Looking across the candidates, I'm hot hopeful anyone currently running can turn things around even with Republican congressional majorities.

We need an effective communicator, with a strong will, a good heart, sharp instincts, interested in prosperity not political maneuvering, a disarming negotiator with beliefs rooted in liberty rather than collectivism.

As important, if not more so, is to elect more TeaParty-types like Jeff Landry (R-LA), Alan West (R-FL), Mike Kelly (R-PA) into Congress in 2012 and eliminate dead wood.

Exactly. An ethanol phaseout is TPaw-style, weak non-commitment.

I keep saying, among reasons we've been saved from "comprehensive immigration reform," is Democrats do not want to share "credit" with any Republican president in favor of it.

Republicans who want it probably don't want to share credit with Democrats either.

Even with 14 million Americans out of work they're still talking about "jobs Americans won't do" and the need for even more illegal laborers to boost the economy! That's the part that irritates most.

They can only mean Americans should be replaced with cheaper 3rd world labor here at home. Replacing Americans with a new slave class is not the path to prosperity for anyone It's just sick.

Ethanol subsidies exist because Iowa is the first primary state.

Bray,

Assuming I’m still reviewing....put me at the top of your list for a review.

I’ll do my best to give you a big boost, assuming that I can.

That’s easy.

Moe is McCain. He’s the mean one, and the leader.

Graham is Curly.

Lieberman is Larry.

Not laughable if we didn't put tariffs on imports. However, that presumes that the mandates would remain in place in terms of requiring a certain percentage of ethanol in the gas mixture. I agree that in a real open market, ethanol would not be competitive.
