AUSTIN - The just-concluded 82nd Legislature has armed Gov. Rick Perry with a host of red-meat issues to present to conservative Republican voters if he jumps into the wide-open presidential primary race.
But analysts say some of those issues could carry consequences down the road in reaching broader constituencies in a general election match-up against President Barack Obama.
Texas' longest-serving governor burnished his conservative profile with legislative victories that included a no-tax budget with $15 billion in cuts, property rights protections, voter ID legislation and a bill requiring sonograms before abortions.
Two other Perry-backed issues - an immigration measure to ban so-called sanctuary cities and legislation to prohibit intrusive airport pat-downs - could also enhance the Texas governor's stature among conservative activists though they ultimately died in the Legislature.
Even without declaring, Perry is becoming an early favorite among Tea Party activists for his adherence to limited government and his verbal assaults on Washington. Sabato's Crystal Ball, an online analysis headed by much-quoted political observer Larry Sabato of the University of Virginia, places Perry in the top tier of 11 announced and unannounced candidates. The Texas governor ranked number three, behind former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann of Minnesota...........

The jobs Perry would supply would be workers for the 12 lane North American Highway to Canada. More of Roosevelt’s infrastructure jobs like the RVA where they stole homesteads from families by eminent domain! Governors do not make jobs!
The governor wrote in a letter Wednesday that he was concerned about two U.S.-flagged ships that plan to challenge the Israeli naval blockade on the Gaza Strip. He urged U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to take legal steps to stop Americans from taking part in the attempt to reach Gaza, or to prosecute them if they do….”

Looks like Perry could actually make progress in the Middle East.
The jobs Perry would supply would be workers for the 12 lane North American Highway to Canada. More of Roosevelt’s infrastructure jobs like the TVA where they stole homesteads from families by eminent domain! Hundreds of men lost their lives in some of those Federal jobs! Governors do not make jobs!

I say it shows he doesn't have an agenda other than a fiscally sound and physically save Texas and U.S., and he wants to work with people who want that too.
So you support Texas Tax Payers giving $250,000,000.00 to foreign interests to build a race track?
My gosh! The guy sounds just like Obama! We must remember that every candidate will play to what the people are concerned about. That doesn’t mean they will follow through if they win.
Interesting, the guy is an environmentalist? Environmentalists are likely to be subversive, like say, Al Gore?
We already have our opinions about Obama. We don’t need to hear them enumerated over and over and over again. Let’s hear exactly what this guy would do differently.
First: it's not $250,000,000.00. The article I posted says it is 10 times less -- $25,000,000. (That's quite an error on your part trumandogz.)
Second: I expect this Formula One race track is going to generate a huge amount of money for Texas and Austin.
