"Two Austin-area educators and a local accountant filed a lawsuit Wednesday against state comptroller Susan Combs seeking to prevent the state from paying a $25 million public subsidy to local organizers of the Formula One race planned for next June.

The lawsuit, filed in state District Court in Travis County, claims Combs promised the money to F1 promoters illegally, and asks for any payment from the state to them to be halted.

A spokesman for Combs defended the agency’s involvement in bringing Formula One to the state. “All applicable state rules and regulations were followed,” Allen Spelce said in an e-mail. “By bringing F1 to Austin we create jobs and spur economic development. The Comptroller’s office has followed the law as it is laid out in statute and administrative rules.” -- Source

So you support Texas Tax Payers giving $250,000,000.00 to foreign interests to build a race track?

Travis County is a very liberal bastion. Everything that comes out of any media there is so slanted that you can’t believe anything that comes out of their mouths. That being said, Texas has been very aggressive in getting business groups to locate there and bring lots of good paying jobs. Grey Eagle
