It was pretty blatant and I’m guessing the guy had already drawn the judge’s attention.

He sure looked brave and sure of himself when he was flipping off Ashton. I thought he might pee his pants when the Judge was talking to him

Yes and yes....saw it live. Perry Mirandized him very quickly and after a thirty second financial ‘audit’, gave him a court appointed attorney since the brat advised in the affirmative that he would like to appeal.

there are consequences with disrespectful actions but they may vary. We see here what it can be in a courtroom. Try it in a black neighborhood in a rowdy crowd. Your widow will be cashing in your insurance policy.

Is it illegal?

Simply outstanding job by the Judge. Cool, calm, collected, and loaded for bear....

That young man got a stark, and badly needed lesson on the consequences for his actions. I’ll bet you a burger that kid never flips anyone off for the rest of his life...

I was surprised at the age....his look and childish demeanor tagged him as 19 or 20 to me.

It is funny but the guy is an idiot.

This trial is a waste of time and I am sick of hearing about it, as nasuem, all frickin day long.

I just keep changing the channels on my TV, Sirius and Radio every single time it comes on.

Just a get a rope already and be done with it.

Isn’t flipping the bird covered under the 1st Amendment?

Judge Perry had a sign on the door prohibiting any gestures, etc, that would indicate pro or con. The Judge also had the court Sheriff’s instruct the gallery of the same rule before each session. The guy admitted he'd read the sign and flipped-off Ashton anyway. Judge Perry was not amused.

I love this judge. He has tried his best to keep the solemnity of the proceedings, even in the face of multiple attorneys who are more interested in gamesmanship than in justice, and this kid wasn’t doing anything other than failing to comport himself in a manner which gives due regard to the serious matters entrusted to the court. I’d’ve done the same thing. I tell the people who come to my courtroom that the reason I wear a robe is to cloak my personal feelings so the law is what rules, not my wishes. This judge has that down.

BTW, military judges also wear robes devoid of any rank insignia so that the law is paramount, not their influence as officers.

I keep thinking, “My son, why is this murder trial different from all other murder trials?”

Then I realize that it, too, is meant as a distraction to ward off critical thinking about the national debt, the budget shortfalls, the international financial crises, the increases in the regulations over our smallest activities, and then I think of Rome, bread, and circuses.

We can all at least say, “Thank God I am not her.”

IMO, it’s not just him. That whole bunch, Casey and her party friends, the grandfather’s whore, and that whole crowd are serial, congenital liars and morally bankrupt. This is a snapshot of a subculture in the twenty-something generation.
