Soros Getting His Fingers in Prosser-Bradley Kerfuffle (Wisconsin Supreme Court)

Soros Getting His Fingers in Prosser-Bradley Kerfuffle

Ed Lasky

Jonathan Tobin writes at Commentary Contentions that a Soros-supported group is behind the trumped-up charges that Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice David Prosser "choked" a liberal colleague of his, Ann Walsh Bradley:

The Associated Press is reporting a criminal inquiry has been opened into the accusation that conservative Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice David Prosser "choked" liberal colleague Ann Walsh Bradley

Christian Schneider, a fellow at the Wisconsin Policy Research Institute, writes in National Review today to tell the inside story about this judicial brawl. According to Schneider's sources, the set-to between the two judges turns out to have been instigated by Bradley, who charged Prosser, who had put his hands up to ward off his colleague's assault. The two were immediately separated, after which Bradley claimed she had been "choked," even though the majority of those present said it never happened.

Schneider says those involved believe Bradley chose not to make a complaint herself because she knew it wouldn't stand up in court. The story was leaked to the George Soros-funded Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism, which promoted the accusation against Prosser and backed it up with anonymous sources.

Prosser was the conservative who won a recent judicial election and provided -- and will continue to provide -- a key vote on the Supreme Court that many hope will help Scott Walker and his efforts to reform Wisconsin state government and its economy.

This is par for the course for George Soros and his band of political activists and their wealthy liberal backers.  They are perfecting the art of character assassination as a political tool.  This "game" was played quite well in Colorado and was the basis for a superb article back in July 2008 by Fred Barnes (see "The Colorado Model: The Democrats' Plan for Turning Red States Blue").  A book was later written about this history (The Blueprint: How the Democrats Won Colorado [and Why Republicans Everywhere Should be Worried] by Adam Schrager and Rob Witwer).

But Colorado was not the only state where Soros & Company have tried these dirty tricks.

I wrote back in 2008 in "The Soros Connection in the Minnesota Senate Race Vote Count" that a Soros-supported group ginned up calls for investigations of Norm Coleman in his race against the Soros-supported Al Franken:

The Alliance is calling for investigations by the FBI and the Senate Ethics Committee into allegations that a major fundraiser and longtime friend diverted thousands of dollars to Coleman's reelection efforts. Coleman denies any wrongdoing and welcomes a quick investigation to put the controversy to rest. This follows in the wake of other efforts by the same group to besmirch Norm Coleman during the campaign (it paid for ads attacking Coleman for granting tax breaks to oil companies, and connected those actions to donations made to him by "oil and gas" interests).

Who is funding The Alliance for a Better Minnesota? Rob McKay, Anna Burger and George Soros are all involved in funneling money and presumably advice to a group called Fund For America, a so-called 527 political action committee. This group serves as a conduit to funnel money and support to, among a few other groups, the Alliance for a Better Minnesota. A map of the relationships has been prepared by the Center for Investigative Reporting, which is, in part, supported by George Soros's Open Society Institute.

The buzz generated by these calls for an investigation was picked up by the liberal media echo chamber and caused political problems for Coleman in his tight race against Franken.  Coleman very narrowly lost to Franken after a recount.  The election itself was marked by controversy over the counting of ballots.  The calls for an investigation itself went nowhere because the allegations were bogus and specious.  But the fake charges had done their work.

Now Soros and his merry band of liberal operatives are trying the tried and true tactic of sponsoring smear lawsuits.

Lawfare -- the newest political tactic.  And just another way to smear opponents.  When people see smoke, they naturally tend to think there is fire.  Soros likes smoke -- and smokescreens.

Hey Bradley!

If you’re going to create a ‘scam’, try not to have a room full of witnesses.

Makes it easier to defend a ‘he said/she said” accusation in a court, and the press.

The guest host on the Limbaugh show yesterday was talking about this. Eyewitnesses, says the women, Bradley actually attacked Prosser and the only thing he did was put his hand on one of her shoulders to hold her back. Someone had to literally drag her off of him. And he is the one that they are trying to go after?!? It sounds like this nutty women doesn't need to be anywhere near a courthouse, unless it's for a mental competency evaluation.

I'm reminded of the phrase, “Turnabout is fair play.”

We need to resurrect Dick Nixon's Committee to Reelect the President!

The linked article on how the Democrats are winning in Colorado is accurate and outstanding IMHO. It is not just gobs of Democrat money and smart politics, it's also Republicans shooting themselves in the foot.

And it's continuing. We nominated a psychobunny for Governor and a rookie for Senator who couldn't get his gun out of his holster but kept shooting himself in the foot. So, we have Dems for Governor and Senator.

Everthing I’ve read on this suggests it was instigated by Bradley and then stage managed by Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson, a Bradley ally and the source of much of the tension on the court that goes back years. Apparently it is Abrahamson that fed the phony “Chokegate” story to the Soros stooges.

All activity connected with perfecting the art of character assassination as a political tool needs to find universal derision in the political discourse of Americans of every stripe.

Let's bring it to the forefront of our conversations.

Such character assassination needs to be as reviled at detested among Americans as would, for example, someone attempting to manipulate our country's currency market for personal gain.

Such activity could threaten any of us that might find ourselves capriciously contrary to the whims of any very wealthy behemoth opposed to our ideas, and the fact that today it's "open season" merely on conservatives should give libertarians, moderates, RINOs, or even liberals no comfort whatsoever--for in history, it's been many, many times that the political tables have turned!

It’s an insidious tactic that must be exposed to daylight. More articles like this one are needed.

I read that article by Fred Barnes on the “Colorado Model” and it is stunning. The wealthy leftists were well organized and determined and that was in 2008. Have conservatives developed an effective strategy to fight back?

Yes and no. We are getting better funding for legislative races and narrowly took back the House.

But the divisions within the party have not completely healed and we are still hammering ourselves with lousy candidates and losing races we should win.

See George Soros is bent out of shape over Prosser’s successful election win. That’s great news. I hope this is driving him nuttier than he already is.

I have to wonder if this is not “a good offense is better than a good defense” deal. She was afraid he was going to file charges against her so she went on the offensive.

And I hope Prosser does file charges for assault. He’s got witnesses. And apparently there were only two lying liberals in the room.

And apparently there were only two lying liberals in the room.

That's the way I read it too. There was Bradley and Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson(a real nasty person).

In addition to them, there was the four conservative justices - Prosser, Michael Gableman, Patience Roggensack and Annette Ziegler.

The third liberal justice, Patrick Crooks, was not present.

I think this was just another attempt to smear Prosser. Bradley instigated it, and her pal Abrahamson stage managed the rest. Now it's backfiring, in a few more days it'll be "Nevermind".

In addition to Justice Ann Bradley, this has her pal Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson’s finger prints all over it. Those two nasty lib shrews have a history of viciousness.
