Just another benefit of shutting down the government...let’s shut the whole damn thing down for a week or two...

800,000 isn’t nearly enough.
Don’t idle them, fire them and eliminate the agencies they work for.

There is always one.
When trying to make a point, someone always has to find a "but" in it, and a personal scenario as reason to object to any opinion or idea.
My opinion isn't going to make one iota of difference about your wife's job, or the level of layoffs...it's just my opinion.
During the obama reign we've quadrupled the size of government adding hundreds of thousands of useless, union-driven jobs.
THAT was my point...NOT your wife.
Sometimes I don't know why I even bother.

Here come all the sob stories about the federal employees that are going to lose their houses and their children will starve because those mean old republicans won't give Obama a blank check.Could be worse. Winter (despite global warming) is right around the corner.

if my wife lost her job, wed lose everything In this economy, very few companies will hire someone laid off from a government job as their last major employment, so it's foodstamps and welfare. I hope it doesn't get that bad for you.

So I guess they’ll be closing the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Viet Nam Memorial, Smithsonian Museums, National Archives, Arlington National Cemetary, National Zoo, Jefferson Memorial, WWII Memorial and the Library of Congress, among others. Gonna be a lot of Americans vacationing here with no cool American places to visit. What happens to National Parks? I think they’ll close too. Dang.

Cut ALL salaries of $100k OR MORE of government public “servants” IN HALF! Since when do public servants earn more than their employers? Then begin to close all outdated and unnecessary departments to the quick! That would be a fantastic start.

Cut back on all unconstitutional actions of the federal government and the budget would be next to nothing.

Good point, but realistically, what about a 5% cut across the board for everyone except the illegal Czars...fire all of them....

Well, most of them are ‘idling’ anyway. Let’s just stop paying them to do it.

Failure to Raise U.S. Debt Cap Seen Idling 800,000 (federal so-called) Workers Instead why not try reducing the federal deficit by eliminating 800,000+ unnecessary federal workers from the bloated federal workforce.
