I WAS WRONG ABOUT SAME-SEX MARRIAGE and got the zot (again)
CNN ^ | 6/27/11 | David Frum

Posted on 06/29/2011 8:15:42 AM PDT by No Brainer

I was a strong opponent of same-sex marriage. Fourteen years ago, Andrew Sullivan and I forcefully debated the issue at length online (at a time when online debate was a brand new thing).

Yet I find myself strangely untroubled by New York state's vote to authorize same-sex marriage -- a vote that probably signals that most of "blue" states will follow within the next 10 years.

I don't think I'm alone in my reaction either. Most conservatives have reacted with calm -- if not outright approval -- to New York's dramatic decision.

Why?

The short answer is that the case against same-sex marriage has been tested against reality. The case has not passed its test....

If people like me had been right, we should have seen the American family become radically more unstable over the subsequent decade and a half.

Instead -- while American family stability has continued to deteriorate -- it has deteriorated much more slowly than it did in the 1970s and 1980s before same-sex marriage was ever seriously thought of.

By the numbers, in fact, the 2000s were the least bad decade for American family stability since the fabled 1950s. And when you take a closer look at the American family, the facts have become even tougher for the anti-gay marriage position.

Middle-class families have become somewhat more stable than they used to be. For example: College-educated women who got married in the 1990s were much less likely to get divorced than equally educated women who got married in the 1970s.

What's new and different in the past 20 years is the collapse of the Hispanic immigrant family....

a big ole puss filled Zit all ready and primed for squishing.

Gives us a pretty close mental image, IMO, of these worthless little retread trolls who think it's kool posting these insane little threads just to get the zot. If that's all their time is worth, then I'd say Zit is spot on...

So that's your "welcome aboard"?

Okay, then perhaps you can clarify a bit:

1. Do you think homosexuals should be allowed to "marry" each other? YES or NO.

2. Do you think that the defeating the militant homosexual agenda is critical? YES or NO.

Everybody has to join sometime...

Yeah and people who join and immediately start posting vague troll-like responses are a little suspect.

I like to give troll's the benefit of the doubt for at least one response. It's fun to lull them into a false sense of security.

Gosh, I’ve been missing all the fun on this thread.

Got some pro-euthanasia people over here in case anyone’s interested. A pretty aggressive one, too.

Attention all passengers of this ship Titanic, this is your captain speaking. Following my previous announcemt that this ship had hit an iceberg and was sinking fast, I am happy to announce that it is not sinking as fast as previously thought..........

I see. Since you have appointed yourself as the official screener, I will answer your questions - but just this one time, mind you. I am quite sure of my bona fides as a conservative but I have no way of knowing who you are or what you have accomplished. I judge a person's committment to their country and conservatism by their actions.

1. There is no such thing as homosexual marriage. Marriage only exists between one man and one woman. Interestingly, every homosexual had real parents or he or she or it wouldn't be here now.

2. Yes, I think defeating the radical homosexual agenda is absolutely important. They aren't normal because their brains aren't working right (at roughly the same frequency as autism, based on the last census results), and they are a genetic and genealogical dead end. It's sad and I don't espouse hurting anybody or discriminating against them but I am completely against the rabid campaign to subvert our children at their schools, push their weird practices into our living rooms, or destroy the greatest institution of our civilization, marriage.

Now - who's "troll-like"? me or unfriendly old you? What are your answers to your questions?

You're probably right. The FreeRepublic should be kept scrupulously clean of all new guys, never mind whether they are disabled combat vets, or good, solid family men, Christians, NRA Life members, or hard-working Tea Party members.

I had lurked for a long while and figured it was time to become more active and contribute but I have no stomach or patience for "Grand Inquisitors" of any kind. That's the province of Chris Matthews or Keith Olberbman and their ilk.

JimBob, request you remove me from the FreeRepublic.

You've been here A WEEK and your statements were quite suspicious.

2. Yes, I think defeating the radical homosexual agenda is absolutely important. Thanks for clarifying, your initial response on this thread was quite ambiguous.

Now - who's "troll-like"? me or unfriendly old you?

Thanks for the laugh.

What are your answers to your questions?

Really? You are suggesting that I might support militant homosexualism? That's laughable on so many levels I don't even know how to respond.

Click my name and look at my posts.

Good idea. You're obvious not cut out to converse with civilized people.

Courtesy ping to "The Grand Inquisitor," "JimBob," and the moderator I think is most likely to grant your request.

Thanks Don-O - glad to hear some friendliness ..

Is there really that big a problem with leftist trolls that every new guy is suspicious? Seems to me that we have enough horsepower to out-debate any number of them when the show up.
