When you are a conservative, your popularity in the face of constant bad press, only exists when you can fight back, such as during holding an office that is in the public eye, or especially when you are campaigning and get to counter bad media with your own ads.

If you don't think Palin walks on water then you are accused of having "Palin Derangement Syndrome." I see "Palin Derangement Syndrome" as an affliction of both her most vicious detractors and her most rabid supporters.
