A new statewide survey in Alaska shows President Obama beating Sarah Palin in her home state in a head-to-head matchup. Continue Reading
The poll, by Hayes Research Group, had a sample size of 500 likely voters and a 4.4-point margin-of-error.
Still, it showed Obama's support as stronger than Palin's in a horserace.
Some 34 percent said they felt "strong" in backing Obama, while 6 percent were "not so strong," and 2 percent were undecided but leaning toward him.
Palin, Alaska's former governor and the Republican vice presidential nominee in 2008, had 25 percent of likely voters saying they felt "strong" about supporting her, while 6 percent were "not so strong," and 5 percent were unsure but leaning toward her.
Still, there were a large number of undecided voters in the survey, with 7 percent saying they'd support another candidate, and 16 percent saying they remained undecided.

“How much money has he cost them in Oil Checks?”
That’s a great question which I can’t answer.
Actually, I would think Obama’s overall restrictions on oil production would mean more $$$ per barrel already coming out of Alaskan ground. And, depending on the specifics (which I don’t know) of Sarah’s legendary oilman arm twisting, individual citizens may or may not BENEFIT from the rapid rise in oil price.
Then again, if ANWAR and such were not restricted by the overbearing feds, then OPPORTUNITIES for high-paying work would certainly increase. Even if the overall price of oil came down - which it would - by employing a Drill Baby Drill policy in the whole nation. And if there IS also some unearned benefit that citizens would receive based on greater production rather than higher prices, then more drilling would be a win-win for them.
She has to get under 40% unfavorable and she’s a long way from that. At 50%, it’s simply impossible.
As far as any final prediction, sure, that’s absolutely right.
However, they are an indicator of the overall popularity of various candidates (and maybe-candidates), as well as the mood of the country.
When someone is consistently disliked by a majority of the country, doesn’t that send up BIG red flags?
I’ve said several times that Palin’s emails, this movie about her, etc., can only help her...I’ve even heard some people make comments that perhaps she’s growing on them.
I just don’t know though...people are really stupid. After all, they elected Obama the first time, didn’t they?
I’m not worried about her popularity with the base.
It’s Joe Independent and Sally Swingvote that I worry about.

She likely will, but there’s a lot of others she has to pick up as well since they lost last time.
>>> Poll: Obama beating Palin in Alaska
No problem. This will immediately reverse once the people of Alaska are introduced to Sarah by seeing this new movie called “The Undefeated”. Coming to a church basement near you.
You can keep chanting that mantra to yourself, but that won't make it so.
The real proof is in the pudding. Sarah Palin generates enthusiasm and crowds like no other living politician. She has a broader and deeper level of grass roots support across the country than any other potential candidate.
The press cannot stop talking about her, no matter how hard they try. They attack her relentlessly, precisely because THEY recognize the threat that she is, even if some on our side don't.
She IS the 800 pound gorilla in the room, and the political class well knows it. On the day that she announces her candidacy, the Republican primary will be over, and you will see an eruption of energetic support that will be one for the record books.
Did you just ignore what I said?
All “Sally Swingvote” has heard about Palin is the most negative things you can imagine. Palin can go nowhere but up, and her favorability is trending up on the current media buzz.
I'm sure they would love to own it.
So, why listen to a welfare state run by the modern day version of Tammany Hall with 3 electoral votes anyway?
Besides, when given the choice between Obummer and Palin, the odds on choice for Alaska will be the R. In Alaska, the R wins in Presidential races unless some miracle is performed. Besides, this pollster has already been proven to be tilted in favor of the D’s, heavily.
Push you wares somewhere else. Like I said - you can only fool the uninformed. Don’t insult freepers with your crapola!
We know the deal - we followed every bit of it - right down from the radio station, to the liberal judge and the union thug in the state owned building the day before pushing for her. And all the other liberal tactics played out.
Obama and media rumpswabs beating Palin in Alaska
If you knew anything about Alaska, you would have known that Lisa attended the big Native Convention in Fairbanks a few weeks before the fall election and promised the Indians all the gold they could eat in welfare & fed grants & favoritism for their support. Indians are all democrat and there are over 100,000 of them in Ak. Murkowski won by 12k votes. Many small villages the write in votes were in same hand writing, every last one of them for Lisa. That’s the real deal on how Murkowski stole the election; happens all the time in America and why we need honest politicals like Palin cleaning the filthy mess up.
Solar, you are a smart person. We should always maintain at least some healthy skepticism with any politician. :)
She only has to pick Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Nevada, Indiana, and Virginia — traditionally red states — and she wins.
What’s hard about that?
Pick UP Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Nevada, Indiana, and Virginia, I meant to type
Quite a compelling argument.
AK has often had two liberal senators and still does; it’s “conservastism” is overrated. Palin would be lucky to win five states if she is the nominee, as so many women oppose her.
