WASHINGTON (AP) -- At least they're still talking. While President Barack Obama and congressional Republican leaders have publicly dug in their heels on critical debt-limit negotiations, Obama's spokesman said Tuesday the president and Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell will continue discussions.
Obama and Vice President Joe Biden spent more time in the Oval Office on Monday with McConnell than they did with a fellow Democrat, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. The president and vice president have scheduled another meeting for Wednesday to consult with Reid -- and also invited Sens. Dick Durbin and Charles Schumer, both members of the Democratic leadership team.
The White House did not announce a new meeting with Republicans. But Obama spokesman Jay Carney called the meeting with McConnell "useful" and said that "importantly" they agreed to continue meeting.

O: Huh? Don’t use those big words, but if you want, you can borrow my telepromter. It lets me say what it wants me to say and I don’t have to pick and chose words.
M: Not a good idea.
O: OK, then let’s consider what the IRS might find were you to come up with an audit.
M: You threatening me?
O: come on, its the chicago way. You see what happened when Blago went against me.
M: I am leaving.
The regime will push for more tax hikes on the “wealthy” and evil corporations. But corporations don’t pay taxes, they are third party tax collectors.
baraq and his gang are floating spending cuts, but the repubs has better get the cuts first.
Reagan got hammered by the dims when he made a deal with the demonrats. Reagan got his tax rate reductions, but the dims not only didn’t cut spending, they ramped up spending.
The dims are not honest brokers. The repubs need to approach these negotiations as if they were dealing with the North Koreans at Panmunjon. They will not honor their end of the deal.
Exactly Trust a Democrats and get screwed.
Look for a hidden dirty deal in anything Chuck the Schmuck and Turban Durbin have anything to do with.
Yeah -- to get a reasonable deal with those guys, you have to kill 20,000 of their men and take another mile and a half of territory every day when you're talking to them. Then they'll deal.
Reagan said of the Russians, "Trust but verify." With the 'Rats, it ought to be "Don't trust, but verify. And when they cheat, scrag them hard, drag them through the mud and stomp on them with golf shoes. Then verify some more."
