How picture perfect Michele Bachmann has stepped up her style game
Daily Mail UK ^ | June 27, 2011 | Tamara Abraham

Michele Bachmann, looked polished and elegant as she announced her campaign to be the Republicans' Presidential candidate today.

And while there is no denying that the Minnesota Congresswoman, 55, is an attractive woman, it appears she has stepped up her game when it comes to her style and beauty routine.

As she launched her bid this morning, it was clear that her pale grey dress and matching jacket had been carefully considered.

--snip--

Mr Mattie compared Mrs Bachmann to fellow Republican Sarah Palin, whose distinctive personal style came under heavy scrutiny in 2008 during her campaign for U.S. Vice President.

He added: 'It's great to see a political candidate who does not wear her hair in a bun or hide her smoldering eye shadow with oversized spectacles, much like what has become the cartoonish beauty treatment of Sarah Palin.'

Wow! First of all, people who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Were is a different word altogether front where...learn when to use it properly.

What are you talking about? I went back and checked and don't see where I made that error, typo or not.

The John Wayne Gacy vs. John Wayne issue is a total smear job. My belief is that it is complete coincidence that Gacy was from Waterloo. The reference is rooted in the fact that John Wayne’s parents lived in Waterloo, then moved briefly before his birth. It’s a totally valid reference to the values of that community. I giver her credit for not trying to explain it away and simply staying “on message”. She is doing a lot of that - ignore the question and it’s premise, then articulate your desired point to the press.

Republicans will not nominate a woman. The fix is in for Romney. Bachmann is just a set up to win IA but lose NH so Mitt can win NH and Michigan and FL and waltz to the nomination.

You are so right about Bachmann KO’ing Romney, although I personally don’t see him as a truly substantial obstacle.

Romney couldn’t win the nomination BEFORE the Tea Party Movement — Hell’s Bells, he couldn’t beat MCCAIN for the nomination in 2008 (and there certainly was no great love for McCain) — who in the world thinks Romney would magically be MORE popular in 2011/12, after 3+ years of Obama and the Tea Party movement in full swing?

Well, I don’t remember any earthtone makeover of Algore. I just did a google search on it. I guess this has to do with Al Gore hiring Naomi Wolf. It was reported that she was helping him in his campaign to escape his “Beta Male” problem (being a second to Clinton’s Alpha Male) and his wardrobe. By putting more earth tones into it. I don’t see this as the same story. This is a story about hiring a consultant to choose his fashion accesories. A well known feminist at that. It’s not a general comment on his wardrobe but a story about a consultant whose job it is to pick his wardrobe.

As for the Kerry story about spray tans and bowtox. Well, I did include the exception in there that it should be reported on if it’s zany, whacky etc. Well, I think that falls under this category.

If you want to get a correlating story, did you ever see the press commenting on Nazi Pelosi’s pumps? Or her scarf choice? No. Why? Because it demeans her and would be designed to show her as not a serious politician. Which is what the left is desperately trying to do with Bachman.

Since the Democrats already have their nominee I expect to see a lot of crossover (Dems voting in Repub primary) in the Republican primaries. I am not sure who they think they can best defeat but I think it will be either Romney or Huntsman. After that, to win they will depend on their normal election fraud and our staying home or voting third party in rebellion.

I guess I missed whatever it is that you are talking about. What John Wayne thing?

She said she was born in Waterloo, Iowa, and wanted to restore the American Spirit of Waterloo's most famous resident John Wayne.

She was thinking of THE John Wayne, born in Winterset, Iowa, who never lived in Waterloo.

Waterloo's most famous resident was John Wayne

Once again, what are you talking about? My whole life has been spent in Mississippi 22 yrs, Louisiana 7 years, and Texas for 45 years. How is that mid-western? I am compelled to ask whether your parents,, guardian or keeper know you are on the computer?

It now seems that all this broohaha is a media creation. As I understand it, John Wayne was conceived in Waterloo, Iowa but his parents left before he was born. The John Wayne Gacye think is a media doing. At least that is what I have heard and read.

I was rather amused by this fluff piece in the UK press. Are male candidates subjected to fashion critiques like this? And of course they couldn't resist a snarky comparison with Sarah Palin. Fairness, though, we'd do the same to Hillary, and she wouldn't even compare to either of our ladies.
