1988? But in the mid 1970’s we had global cooling. And I thought 1998 was the hottest year on record. Mathematically, shouldn’t 1988 have been “just right”?

Warming and cooling are trends, not absolute temperatures.

Global warming is global, not local.

Clean Air legislation removed particulates that had been acting to cool.

Etc.
