MONDAY UPDATE: MURPHY STEPS DOWN. Herman Cain's state director and lone New Hampshire staffer has resigned, leaving the campaign without a New Hampshire presence at least for the time being, the Granite Status has learned.
Veteran GOP organizer Matt Murphy confirmed today that he stepped down last Friday as director of Cain's campaign in the first-in-the-nation primary state. He said the campaign refused to invest in a serious effort here.
There is no ill will toward Herman Cain, Murphy said. There was a strategic difference and I left the campaign because of those differences. The differences involved the New Hampshire strategy and how much investment the campaign should put into New Hampshire.
The Cain campaign also lost its regional field director. Jim Zeiler confirmed this afternoon that he resigned last week to return to my home in Wisconsin.

The New Hampshire has always been a joke, but now it’s not time for laughing. New Hampshire has given a head start to some very lousy candidates.
It’s time we all had the same shot at picking a good one.
a replacement is already in place and will be announced shortly.
First rule in politics is to get LOYAL people.
He would have been better off using middle managers from Godfathers Pizza, they wouldnt have made him finish any lower in New Hampshire than these 2 jerkoffs would.
Political advisers are scum, that's why Palin doesn't waste her money.
Thanks Hawk720.
Translation: I'm a real important bigshot but Cain didn't pay me as much as I am obviously worth.
Well, at least he doesn’t have Ed Rollins on his payroll.
This has come down to Romney v. Bachman. And if Romney wins, and she takes VP ... well that would be upsetting.
Of course, I am assuming Palin, Perry, etc doesn’t get in the race.
I’ll bet these two pixies will be writing trash Cain “books” before the 2012 election. There are a lot of commie ‘RAT moles/trash book authors out there posing as GOP “staffers”.
New Hampshire is a trivial irrelevancy.
The new relevant is South Carolina and Florida.
You and the 4 people that watch cnn know who rollins is
Give it up already
First, I don’t believe you’re correct.
Second, I don’t give a hoot what YOU think.
Finally, I won’t be giving anything up.... get used to it or ignore me... either is fine with me and those are your only choices.
His disastrous foot in mouth statements about "walking around money", during the Christine Todd Whitman gubernatorial race, was national news for a very long time and that is but one of his scandals! That one damned near lost the race for her, BTW.
Then he had a bit of a personal sex scandal, as well as a series of other political problems.
Just because YOU don't know this stuff doesn't mean that a vast amount of people, news junkies and those who ignore politics and most news, don't also know about this stuff and just WHO Rollins is.
This was a few years ago; however, older people still have sexual relations....just read the report about older, widowed folks who have STDs.
Cain was third in the Des Moines Register Iowa poll at 10% behind the statistical tie for Romney (23%) & Bachmann (22%) and yet when reporting on CBS's "Face the Nation" Sunday Bob Schieffer said Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul "were next" with 7% and Pawlenty at 6%.
Cain was never mentioned.
Since Cain is mentioned in the actual Des Moines Register as "third" how does CBS explain away their graphic and on-air reporting?
Here's a screenshot from "Face The Nation" as shown at cbsnews.com (clicking will take you to the full show video, poll report at around 1:45 in).
Racism?
That just makes his supporters that much more determined to work harder. CBS did apologize because apparently they got a boatload of complaint mail.
The good news is, Mr. Cain has 4 or 5 FOX appearances this week, several speaking engagements lined up. Other candidates will wax and wane, but Herman Cain’s support is steadily growing. Slow and steady wins the race.
I can smell a Romney/Huntsman-bot a mile away. No worries though, I and hopefully all other conservative and freedom loving Americans will be vote for the candidate with a proven voting record to shrink government, repeal obamacare, etc.
I’m not voting for a political consultant of the year, I’m voting for the candidate. You vote for who you want. As of today (things may change), I’m voting for Bachmann. I will NEVER vote for Romney, Huntsman, Pawlenty, Gingrich
I'm a PALINISTA and have been for many years.
She's the ONLY one who has it all, as far as I'm concerned and there's nothing hiding in any of her closets, left to discover, which makes an "October Surprise" impossible for the damned Dems/the MSM to pull.
