House Wants Cars to Average 56.2 MPG by 2025Gosh why not 100 MPG? or 1000? There is only two ways to get to 56.2 MPG: smaller lighter cars, that are more aerodynamic. I was an Automotive Engineer for 20years and all the low hanging fruit as been picked in terms of increasing MPG. Maybe they will change the rules again and not count certain types of trucks (light trucks) and SUV's or Cross-overs.

56.2 mpg, not 56.1 or 49.8??
Besides the fact that liberals have no knowledge of “significant digits”, they really should stay far away from any kind of science.
Just stick to things they can comprehend like “Dick and Jane” books, the “View” on tv, or simple tools like a wedge.

Which is a good reason the government shouldnt be in the automotive business...
And a good reason for the present government to be fired in 2012. I want to see Pelosis flabby old @ss get into a car that can get 56 miles per gal. I bet that would wipe that botox grin off her face. No, she prefers limousines and jets. Fire her butt!

The federal government is now so powerful as to be able to literally mandate by decree virtually everything in our lives. It's not just automobile fuel efficiency standards, it's everything. Your deodorant, sofa cushions, the monitor you're staring at. Everything.

My first motor vehicle was a soingle cylinder Honda Super 90 “motorcycle” that I used to commute to law school in 1966 annd 1967, which had a top speed of about 45 mph. Even that little machine didn’t get 50 mpg.

Maybe it works out to something when it’s in the kilometers and liters communists love so much.

This is why the CEO of GM was 100% correct, when he said that a gas tax increase would be better than CAFE standards. CAFE standards will distort the world's car markets (and, incidentally, result in thousands of otherwise preventable deaths).

I think we should legislate the exhaust to only contain rainbows and Skittles, in federally mandated percentages of course.
