John Wayne is not from where his parents met.
It is well known he is from a certain town in Iowa. They take pride in that fact. There are signs in the State about it.
I think this also shows that she can’t really portray herself as someone from Iowa. She is out of touch and didn’t even know that John Wayne was not born in Waterloo.
Oh please, certainly her presidential campaign can’t hinge on whether she authentically is “from Iowa”.
She grew up there until the age of 12.
I guess those first 12 years don't mean anything. /s
Maybe they get creative and claim John Wayne was conceived in Waterloo before his family moved to Winterset.

Makes as much sense as explanations I have seen for similar gaffes over the years.
