Good to know.
So did “Monsters, Inc.”
Why can’t they just keep the political crap out?! “Happy Feet” was good until the environmental message at the end. Goodness, just let them be kids movies!
Good to know. Hope it flops. Maybe they can next do a Monsters II and make Republicans the monsters.
Luckily I wasn’t feeling well yesterday and was napping when the girlfriend took a pack of her nieces and nephews to see the movie.
So, Lasseter (sp?), who grew up in the car culture of Souther California, thinks that big oil is the problem? The car culture exists only due to “big oil” going and doing what it does. Big Alcohol is a waste of time for normal vehicles. Big Battery can’t go more than 40 miles without help from Big Oil, or Big Coal, or Big Nuke. Big Oil also makes less profit per gallon than Big Government makes (in 2010, Exxon Mobil made just over $0.02/gallon profit for the year - the combined government take per gallon was, on average, over $0.45/gallon).
Well, dang, I was planning to take my young sons to see this. It would have been their first time in a theater. Not now!
Glenn Beck spent almost the entire first hour of his radio show this morning talking about “Cars 2,” how his 6-year-old son wants to see this movie, how he, Glenn, doesn’t want to take his son to a movie that’s going to indocdrinate him, etc.

He mentions the “big oil” connection, but without explanation or details.
The whole "Oil companies are evil" subplot was completely lost on me. One of those deals where that particular piece of the plot was exposed and I said "......wait, what????"
I'd not worry too much about the movie brainwashing your kids.
I was more worried about the $20 it separated from my wallet. Frankly, it wasn't all that great a flick. A few chuckles. Decent moral ("stand by your friends"). Lots and lots of the Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) character, who is funny.......in small doses.
Cars 1 wasn’t very good to begin with. The weakest of the Pixar films, IMO. Surprised anyone would even want to see a sequel.
But can't find any enthusiasm for politicizing an afternoon at the movies with my grandchildren...
We had a blast....
Enjoyed the movie... especially the 3D experience...
To each his own--
...except, he didn't. There's an opening scene with lots of oil rigs, but the bad guys in the movie are obsolete cars (lemons, as Mater calls them). It's a very enjoyable movie.
In the words of SFC Hulka, "Lighten up, Francis".
How much you want to bet there’s a sympathetic or heroic gay character too?
My daughter asked me about the navy ship (LCS version) that was working for hte bad guys. She wanted to know if we really had laser designated missiles, and whether or not there was electromagnetic energy used. I gave her the UNCLAS version of our deployed systems....
I asked her about the bad guy scenario, she said that she thought the ship had “gone bad” and that the movie wasn’t trying to make the USN seem bad. She is 13 and loves science.
