It’s Time to Go After Whitey Bulger’s Brother Billy

The murderer in chief of the Boston mob, Whitey Bulger, has now been arrested, but the godfather of the mob, William Bulger (known as “Billy”), is still at large. Until William Bulger is brought to justice, there will be no occasion for celebration.

Without William Bulger, there would have been no Whitey Bulger. Killer Whitey would have remained a petty criminal were it not for the protection he allegedly got from his Godfather Billy. While Whitey Bulger was climbing the ladder of crime in Boston, Billy was climbing the ladder of politics.

Of course in Boston, the separation between crime and politics was often a matter of degree. William Bulger became president of the Massachusetts Senate and then, quite remarkably, the president of the University of Massachusetts — until a courageous governor, Mitt Romney, pressured him to resign by threatening to appoint me and other Bulger critics to the board of the University.

Billy Bulger’s point man — his consiglieri — was his childhood friend, John Connolly, the FBI agent who was Whitey Bulger’s handler. It was John Connolly who tipped off Whitey to the fact that he was about to be arrested, thus allowing him to remain at liberty for 16 years.

It was Billy who then arranged to have a secret phone conversation with his fugitive brother from the phone of a neighbor. No one knows what was discussed on that call, except that Billy acknowledges he did not tell his brother to turn himself in.

John Connolly is now serving life imprisonment in Florida for conspiracy to murder and related corruption charges. Billy Bulger continues to be accepted as a respected elder of the Boston political establishment.

They don’t call Billy Bulger the “corrupt midget” for nothing.

And to think, he was paid an annual salary of $1 million when he was the head honcho running the University of Massachusetts.

Billy Bulger lobbied hard in 1990 to make FBI agent John Connolly the Boston Police Commissioner.

That trio of Whitey, Billy and John could have picked Boston clean.

People should read Howie Carr's book The Brothers Bulger.

Do you remember a couple years back when he went to court against the state and got another $30k+/- a year in pension to bring his total up to about $170/year.

FYI, the authorities are very interested in speaking to Whitey regarding the Gardner art museum heist. $500 million worth of paintings are still missing.

Brother Billy and the democrat party have been complicit in hiding Whitey for years. He didn’t live a high lifestyle in hiding without the help of his political ties.

The 1953 mug shot of Whitey shown in some news articles is a perfect example of the face of the democrat party, then and now.

I want to know how many Kennedys and Kerrys and other Democratic politicians were involved with the Bulgers.

Having worked on an Organized Crime Task Force, focusing on New York City and Chicago, I found that union corruption bled into politics, with the Democrats being the most corrupt and corrupted (from Lindsay, Wagner, down to possibly Beam, Dinkins, etc).

Popping this boil of crime and corruption named “Boston” will bring forth a big stinking mess, but it is time to clean up “Beantown” for the decent people who want honest government (if that is possible in Boston).

While sunshine may be the best disinfectant on corruption, a flamethrower works better on criminal and political cockroaches. It’s “crispy critter” time, folks.

There may be an organization out there which is more corrupt than the Massachusetts Democrat Party, but you’d have to look pretty hard to find it.

When you do some guy named Soprano or Bernanke will be running it.
