Beyond New York, gay marriage faces hurdles (coastals/flyovers?)
NYT in msnbc ^ | 27 June | Confessore

After a string of defeats in recent years from California to Maine, the movement to legalize same-sex marriage is hoping its unexpected victory in New York will revive efforts to legalize gay weddings around the nation. But the movement’s success here could prove difficult to replicate. Twenty-nine states have constitutional bans on same-sex marriage, while 12 others have laws against it. And many of those states where support for same-sex marriage is high have already acted on the issue. Officials at several gay-rights organizations said they would seek to move quickly in Maryland, where legislation to legalize same-sex marriage was shelved in February by Democratic leaders concerned that it lacked the support to pass. ..Advocates also said they hoped to resuscitate a marriage bill that died in the Rhode Island legislature this year.

IMHO...The problem with the whole of this is that there is a clause abdicating Religions....”Shall make no law”

How is it some states have marriage between a man and woman in their constitution, yet the DOMA was found unconstitutional?

How long is it before I get to marry all four of my wives, my dog, my computer and my TV?

Seriously, these gay people CANNOT be married. Being married is something that be created by man. Marriage is when two people unite as one for the rest of time. All this is is pretend marriage just like 50% of heteromarriages. Only GOD can create marriage.

This will be the beginning of a whole new destruction of the American family.

You're right...It's pretend marriage. No matter what they say, it is NOT for the propogation of the human race, it is for some "false" recognition.

In truth, even the concept is an absurdity.

I hope they move their “pride” parades from Manhattan to the other boroughs and Long Island. Right past the cushy suburban houses of the liberal New Yorkers I know who are falling over themselves right now to say how great this is.

Mississippi passed their amendment by 86% in 2004, that’s the highest % I think of any state. Some states only passed them or repealed “gay marriage” laws by the slimmest of margins, like Maine and California.
