“they are discouraged against reading books or learning because that is “acting white”? “

My 40+ years experience in education suggests it isn’t so much black kids are “discouraged” from reading is that more than half of them just can not read, period.

Their ancestors never developed a written language so it is somewhat presumptuous to believe the people of a geographical area, with relatively pure genetic lines, where written language was never developed, can hit the ground running and pick up all the requisite anatomical necessities in a few generations.

Reading is difficult in all the aboriginal societies in Africa, Australia, the USA and Canada. The same societies which never developed the wheel either. It is much like acting surprised your Beagle does not retrieve ducks well or your Chihuahua is not a pointer. It may not be politically correct but genetics counts.

"Black america" has virtually destroyed itself in the last 40 years,
yet your lifetime experiences and books like this are still called racist.
Unbelievable.

Sorry but I disagree.

I do not believe in genetic inferiority. I DO believe in cultural inferiority. Take a hundred black infants and scatter them among a 100 middle class and white professional couples, and in 18 years the percentage of college graduates, professionals, etc. will be exactly the same as white. Take a hundred black genius babies and leave them in the African American community, and in 18 years you'll have the same number of car thieves, drug addicts, and pimps as any other group.

There are cultures that are simply inferior and will always turn out inferior people, no matter what their genetic background.

Pardon me. That is purely the most STUPID post of the day - the virtual EPITOME of what is wrong in modern education.
And I'm not trying to be insulting - note that I did not call you stupid, just your post.

Your veiwpoint belongs on, well, the View

What you say about blacks never developing a written language makes sense but it does not apply to all of them. We have Clarence Thomas, Condalisa Rice, Walter Williams and others who don't fit that mold. Our nephew and his wife adopted a black boy directly from Africa, they saw him there as an infant and waited 2 years to get him. He is as black as a lump of coal, no white blood, and he is brilliant. At about 10/11 years old he devours books, I am told. People like him should have raised the intelligence level of the tribe, apparently there weren't enough of them.

This black boy lives in Arlington Texas BTW.

I like your analogy.
