^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The last time I had reason to be in the area ( about 10 years ago) Spring Garden was a gentrified neighborhood on the absolute edge of one of the worst black ghettos in the world. ( Yeah! I mean that seriously.)

At the intersection of Broad St. and Spring Garden is the Hahnemann Hospital medical school and university ( lots of white middle class students and workers). A Catholic high school sat on the NE corner. I read that the Mormon Church opened a new temple at this intersection. There are several large museums, the Philadelphia library, and the magnificent Philadelphia Art Museum just a short walk away down Spring Garden.

It would be considered a good neighborhood. It is within the shadow of City Hall and there are a lot of merchants and businesses. However it is just a short subway ride from some very mean streets.
