I’m sure that contributed to it. I think marrying my brother-in-law, who prefaces almost everything he says with “ I heard on NPR.....”, certainly was a contributing factor as well. They were part of the so-called “Woodstock” generation. They embraced all the Marxist talking points of the period. These included “make love not war” and “better Red than dead.

They’ve moderated their views only marginally over the years. They have no clue about basic economics. My brother-in-law is a ship’s carpenter. He made a living restoring historic wooden boats and high end cabinetry. He is a true craftsman. He tells me the only time he struggled financially was when Republicans occupied the WH. Of course, for the most part, dems controlled the Congress during the periods he refers to. He neatly overlooks that by shrugging it off.

His wife is a nurse and works for the state of Florida. She’s a very caring person.

My wife and I love them despite all that, but they’ve been programmed to listen to the left and only to the left. We don’t much talk politics anymore as it is a waste of time. Their response to any argument is to recite demrat talking points even when they don’t apply to the issue in question.

These two abhor conflict of any kind. Thus, they tried to be pals to their only child, a son, rather than parents. This guy is almost 30 years onld and never held an honest job in his life. He has accrued three felony convictions—all drug related. Right now he’s in Fed. Pen for counterfeiting. The fool tried to pass bills he made on his parents computer to treasury agents. My heart goes out to his parents, but they have never indicated any personal responsibility.

It’s all beyond sad.

You’re welcome. I was surprised and glad to see him honored. Sometimes I’m not sure everybody who gets The Medal of Honor earned it. I give you Douglas McArthur being awarded the medal after the disaster in the Phillippines in WWII.

But I don’t think there’s any doubt Jedh was the real McCoy.
