I just sent an email with the title...TO CHRIS WALLACE...ARE YOU A FLAKE?
In the body I told him this is the sort of thing a Chris Matthews might ask and that he’s angered a lot of people with that kind of unprofessional question.
Husband tells me, for the record, that the FLAKE question was asked in response to Michelle B’s assertion that many currently in congress are anti-American.
Anyway....she can’t say this? This makes her a flake?
We obviously have an anti-American president but they’re going to shut us up with mockery and ridicule and they WIN.
No need for an army of other bother, make them shush and allow us to take over.
She should memorize all of Obama's gaffes just to make her own look insignificant. That might just kill that criticism of her in its tracks. Plus she needs to be damn careful not to make any more.
Fishtalk, maybe you should write her a letter with that suggestion.
I may need some enlightening here. Is the CRA the Continuing Resolution...? My recollection is that she pushed for people, especially newly elected TEA Party people to vote against it and that she herself definitely voted against it.
I remember being extremely angry that my own TEA Party guy (even endorsed by Sarah Palin) got rolled by the "leadership" and voted for it. Our local TEA Party sent out an email pointing it out and asking if we elected him to go along to get along.
I'm pretty sure the debt ceiling thingie is going to end some political careers for people who allow it without AT LEAST equal cuts right now. HE WHO GETS ROLLED ON THIS ONE GETS PRIMARIED!
That includes the "big boys" who think they're too powerful to be cast out--kinda like Tom Foley in '94 and the always concerned and saddened Tom Daschle in '04. Yeah, I know they weren't primaried, but they sure were GONE and they sure were surprised.
Indeed. The unconscious broke through. Like that picture.
Clyburn is supporting Boeing agains the NLRB.
Here we go again.
Money was TOO taken out of the SS trust fund. Further, the money was never put in there. Husband’s 401K plan invested the money, didn’t spend it, and it grew to great amounts. Us boobs out here in la-la land understand this.
The gubmint disallows folks taking other people’s money that they invested in good faith and spending it on their own needs. They did not even obey their own laws.
But move on....maybe someday you’ll convince somebody.
I must suppose in the end we all agree that it’s a problem.
I’m no longer a Bachmann fan, but male politicians never get that kind of question. It’s more or less like BOR asking Palin to answer the charge that she’s stupid. That sort of thing is never, ever asked of men in politics—and yet it’s how our now two most prominent conservative women are cast even by Fox news.
Thanks for the thread, AB! ABC, with Christiane, talking about Afghanistan, “Mission Accomplished or Mission Abondoned?”
Vali Nasr - we are handing over the momentum to the Taliban. Everything we’ve done (with Afghanistan/Pakistan) is based on improving our relationship with Pakistan to improve situation in Afghanistan. Af-Pak strategy is being ignored now with no explanation how this will work in Afghanistan in the long run.
George Will - Pakistan is the key. The CIC and the Commander in the field are not agreed on strategies (counterinsurgency vs. counterterrorism)
I truly hope someone on ABC asks Jim Clyburn whether Obama’s golf game yesterday and his campaign stops Thursday and Friday were the reason he had no time for budget negotiations. (I also wish ANYONE would ask Clyburn who he voted for in the Dem Senate Primary last year).

Kristol just wants the Republicans to kick the can down the road on the economy/debt ceiling, because Dems still won’t come up with a budget.
I haven’t trusted polls ever since Pontius Pilate took one in that courtyard in Jerusalem.

Hume is about to blow a gasket at Williams, Powers and Wallace on the budget issue.
Hume seems to think the Republicans will, in the end, raise the debt ceiling.
Wallace has gone off the deep end if he asked if MB was a flake! He should get much mail over this statement.
That was Romney’s game in MA—raising all kinds of ‘fees’ and claiming he wasn’t raising taxes.
Since the paper balance SS trust has been used to finance the US Government's over-spending for almost 2 generations now, there is no cash fund available to actually out accrued benefits. And there is no coffee can full of money buried out behind the US Treasury. Just the good name of this country to back the issued currency.
Idiot Juan: Brit, are you saying that the government is going to send letters to Social Security recipients that you are not going to get your paycheck.
Me to Idiot Juan: A Social Security check is NOT a Paycheck!!!
One of my top ten pet peeves, is calling unearned money “paychecks.”
Many people also call welfare checks Paychecks.
Mine to FNS
Title “Whack a flake”
Chris Wallace has broken new journalistic ground today when he asked Michelle Bachmann, “Are you a flake?” In the interest of “fair and balanced” that needs to be a standard question for EVERY guest from now on. (Except for Sheila Jackson Lee - that would be a waste of valuable air time.)
Facts are stubborn things. The Treasury issued interest bearing, non-market T-bills in the amount of the surplus. The money could have been invested elsewhere rather than T-bills, but it wasn't. The General Fund must come up with the money to redeem the T-bills so benefits can be paid. This is not the reason why SS is unsustainable.
The gubmint disallows folks taking other peoples money that they invested in good faith and spending it on their own needs. They did not even obey their own laws.
Any contributions an individual makes into the system do not belong to him/her per Flemming v. Nestor.
If we don't become informed on this issue, we will be unable to counter the false arguments from the Left that want to perpetuate these Ponzi schemes. SS and Medicare are failed welfare systems. They are actuarily unsustainable.
Now ABC on Michelle obama’s trip to South Africa. Michelle is emotionally moved by the welcome she received.
Meets Nelson Mendela - calls the meeting surreal, powerful, but also like being at Thanksgiving dinner. Told him how important his legacy is to hers and barack’s story.
Her message was directed at the women - Speak with one voice and say “Yes, we can”. (where, oh where, have I heard that before?)
That was a really sappy, suckup segment by David Muir (who traveled with the obama’s). I expected better from him.
