Christie calls TPaw 'serious' candidate

By: Maggie Haberman

June 25, 2011 02:23 PM EDT

Chris Christie has made clear he's not endorsing any candidate for president yet, if ever, but he did have warm words about Tim Pawlenty when asked why his former fellow governor is struggling in terms of polls and fundraising:

"Because he was the governor of Minnesota, and a lot of people don’t know him," Christie told POLITICO.

"I think anybody who knows Tim Pawlenty [knows] he’s a very serious guy and I think he’s got real life experience, both as a politician and as a person," Christie said. "He's got a great wife. And I think when people focus they’re gonna see that Tim is a serious candidate. But, like, why does it take so long for people to catch on? Who knows. I think it’s a product of personality, it’s a product of where you come from. So I don’t think there’s any one particular thing with Tim but I can tell you, knowing him personally, this is a serious guy who’s got serious ideas for the country and really wants to be president. So he’s gonna have his opportunity to have that come through.”

He added that Pawlenty and his wife are prepared to be scrutinized, "and let the chips fall where they may."

TPaw probably needs a big time endorsement or two to be considered serious. Too bad Christie didn’t go out on a limb.

I am still so disappointed in T-Paw failing to take on Romney in the Debate when he had a golden opportunity to leave that Debate the “new front runner”. Hew folded like a cheap suit.

Absolutely not!! We saw his true colors in the debate. He REFUSED to go after Romney. Pawlenty is running for Romney’s VP. Count on it.

Because Tpaw's like, timid and unmemorable, making his hiphop nom de plume like laughable? Because he, like endorsed Global Warming? Like, geez.

T-Paw is probably better than Romney - but not by much.

Maybe Christie is shopping for the AG position - God Help Us!!

In spite of a lackluster debate performance, TPaw isn’t out of the running yet. Christie has plenty of time to make a decision on him.

"Christie calls TPaw 'serious' candidate"

Nobody named "tpaw" is a serious candidate. He should kick whoever gave him that idiot nick-name in the nads.

Like, wow, you nailed it. I especially like “timid and unmemorable.” I don’t know that he really “believes” in Globull Warming ... it could just an excuse for buying votes with ethanol subsidies and “green energy” boondoggles.
