That's a good story. A similar but little known story is that during the strategic daylight precision bombing raids of the US Army Air Corps, some bombs were loaded with leaflets, designed to operate about like those arty shells. Some of the bomber pilots resented having to risk their lives to deliver leaflets, but one never knows when a word plants a seed.
