A woman was arrested for videotaping police from her front yard in Rochester, New York.
Emily Good, 28, was recording a traffic stop where police had a man handcuffed on May 12th. The video was uploaded to Blip TV today.
The cop who arrested her has been identified as Mario Masic, according to the Rochester Indy Media.
A man named Mario Masic who happens to be a police officer in western New York also runs a business called Harvest Moon Malamutes
You can friend him on Facebook here. Or you can email him through his business email address at harvestmoonmalamutes@live.com
The video, which has since gone viral, shows Masic hassling Good with absurd notions after he notices her recording.
You seem very anti-police due to what you said to me before you started taping me.
It is not clear what Good said before she started recording, but if she said anything threatening, they would have arrested her at that moment.
She ended up getting handcuffed and taken away after she refused to walk into her house, even though she was clearly on her own property.
A friend or relative ended up taking the camera and we see her being led away.
Neighbors who witnessed the interaction confirmed she had done nothing wrong.
Meanwhile, the man they had originally handcuffed was released.
Mickey H. Osterreicher, attorney for the National Press Photographers Association, fired off a letter to Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard demanding that Good's charges be dropped.
Sheppard told Osterreicher and the Democrat and Chroniclenewspaper that he has ordered an investigation, which normally is police talk for sweeping it under the carpet until the media attention dies down.

Oh look, Goonman has signed up for his own little vocation on FR.
As the self-appointed due process guy, perhaps the membership should do a group-buy and get you one of these.
You'll be able to charge even more promptly into these threads to "counter the premature conclusions here on FR."
While she lay dying on the operating table it is becoming painfully apparent that the environment in the operating room is septic.
There are those who wish to see her survive and there are those who do not.
In this medical metaphor, those who do not are at every crack and crevice of the operating room, relentlessly and remorselessly pumping pathogens towards the patient in an effort to further add to the sepsis.
It is all very sad and we all have our own choices to make.
We own NO property, that is unless you are a fake Indian or the like, all the property is rented from the government and we became little more than squatters once, the socialist government was given the right to tax our Now so called property.
“Im going to ignore her.”
I would suggest you look at history within the lifetime of many on this planet.
Pastor Martin Niemöller (18921984). It always starts this way. Decide whether your on the side of right and justice. Look deep even though you disagree with this person.
Totally unrelated - but notice how similar that is to some of the hardcore neocons' justification for the Libya debacle. They've abandoned any pretense of US security, and basically say, "If we stop killing them, they won't respect us!" Chilling.
I think this principle also operates in prisons. Thanks for the quote.
I'm guessing that's one of those "subject to interpretation" items; I bet the law doesn't make this a clear case. Legislatures tend to write laws with the idea that people should listen to the police, and if the police act poorly, the people can sue later.
There has to be a line somewhere, but I don't think it would be good for every person to be allowed to decide for themselves what orders of the police they have to listen to or not. There are times when we want people to follow police orders.
Her better move may have been to go into her house, and then sue the police officer and the city for false imprisonment, arguing that by ordering her into her house he was effectively putting her in custody without cause.
I'd guess they'll drop any charges, and she won't be able to get any satisfaction. Maybe that's a "victory", but I'd think she would have been better off just doing what he said.
You might want to look at the agitators in nazi history as well.
“Divide et impera”
Obama’s Marxist teachers, or maybe just Caesar, would be proud of you but dismayed that you recognized their tactics unlike some others on this board. Is there no respect for the Constitution? It is supposed to be for all.
Great quote! Thank you.
“You might want to look at the agitators in nazi history as well.”
You really don’t get it, do you? Be truthful. Let me guess you work for the TSA. Am I right, be honest.
A policeman does not feel safe in a public place because someone is videotaping him.
But the police can videotape you with surveillence cameras while you are in public.
The police are now placed on a level higher than ordinary citizens.
It's news to me that there were other people in Emily Good's yard. I find it interesting that the police just happened to be making an arrest in front of her house, the house of a "community activist" who was arrested three months previously for interfering with a foreclosure. And her friends happened to be there too.
You write like happy hour started a little early for you today.
The police officer proved the woman right, in my opinion. He abused his position - a position of great trust by the “consent of the governed.”
The 12-inch limit is 12 inches because nobody should be so clueless as to park their car further then 3-5 inches from the curb. People who can’t even get their cars within 12 inches of a curb should get tickets, whether or not the police are looking to retaliate.
>>Not for cop haters like you. I notice on your FR home page you say - “Question O-thority.” Far out man - you hate cops and authority ... how 1960s of you. Since your such a retro guy, why not call the cops what you really think of them - pigs? And why stop there - make a couple of fake calls to the cops and then when they show up, start sniping and shooting at them. That’s 60s style too. Do it to the firemen and EMTs too, just like the good old days - and don’t forget to throw in a couple of righteous “power to the people “ chants.
Of course you’ll have to leave your parents basement to do the shooting, but WTF, at 45-50 years old, it’s about time.
I quoted your entire idiotic rant because, well, its stupid. You throw the term “cop-hater” around like a leftist calling people homophobe or racist. Grow up and learn to use language properly. Words mean things.
The “Question O-thority” line is due to the fact that Obama (that’s where the “O” comes from, in case you didn’t figure it out) thinks of himself as a 60’s radical bent on saving America from itself and I love turning leftist bumper sticker philosphy back on them.
I don’t call cops “pigs” because its pretty dumb. I just call them police officers and let them lose the hearts and minds of the people through their actions. I used to be a “law and order” guy who believed that if the police arrested you, then you are guilty. In the last twenty years, the excesses of the police have changed my mind. I’ve had so many cops explain “the thin blue line” to me over the years where they use terms like “them” and “us”, and I began to realize that, to the cops, I was one of “them” just because I didn’t wear a badge. They don’t care if I have a 48 year old record of no crimes, or even being charged with one. I obey the law and expect them to do the same.
As a utility company employee, I’ve been videotaped by citizens while doing my job and, even though I didn’t like it, I wouldn’t even consider using the power of the government to stop them. In fact, if I did call the cops and ask them to arrest a citizen videotaping me at work, they’d laugh in my face.
I’m not going to start shooting them, as you recommend, because I consider them to be humans and I don’t randomly shoot humans as you seem to believe is OK.
Finally, I moved out my parent’s house at age 18 +4 days and joined the military. I served 8 years and have been supporting myself ever since. I really can’t imagine where you got the idea that I live with my parents anymore, except for the likely chance that you are just projecting.
“Her profession is “community activist” and she was arrested in March for blocking a foreclosure.”
What does THAT have to do with THIS?
Okay. I think we've pinpointed the problem: you are not very bright. As she is led away in handcuffs, someone is holding the video camera. Therefore, other people were in her yard. Did you really need someone to give you this news tidbit?
I find it interesting that the police just happened to be making an arrest in front of her house, the house of a "community activist" who was arrested three months previously for interfering with a foreclosure. And her friends happened to be there too.
You find it "interesting" that this woman has friends who visit her?
What sort sort of sick paranoid world do you live in?
