Well, I guess the dumb-ass was too busy paying off his constituency groups (the unions and Acorn) with stimulus money to think of doing this then.
"Linking manufacturers with the latest cutting-edge research at universities and federal agencies is one step in brightening the prospects for American manufacturing. But we can't stop there.
Manufacturers have always been trying to find whatever latest cutting-edge research would give them an edge, unless, of course, they were being run by accountants and lawyers who thought it would be better to squeeze out the last 10 or 20% of, say, an aged steel mill's theoretical production capacity than to invest in a modern steel mill.
