Through a nonprofit, private donors are expected to cover the $3,000-a-month rent, along with utilities and other expenses, on Gov. Jerry Brown's loft in Sacramento.
Brown's office referred questions to George Kieffer, who is president of the nonprofit, known as the Governor's Residence Foundation.
Kieffer said his group would release the names of donors and the amount they have contributed in January 2012. He said the group was raising money to pay Brown's rent, as well as his utility bills.

Of course, Gov. Brown will pay income taxes on this. sarc
No, they can start disclosing names now. This is the highest government official in the state, and there should be transparency from day one, not from day 350 or more.
What a wonderful idea! I think I shall have Bockscar's Residence Foundation!
I shall ask Mr SunkenCiv to be president of Bockscar's nonprofit foundation.
Do you agree Mr Civ?
If not it is Ok. You get a good ping for your lists :)
We're budgeting some additional money assuming that, from time to time, there'll be entertainment there of legislators and others,
and this being Kalipornia we should expect some pretty perverted stuff being paid for by his "friends" who expect something in return.
Brown was the jerk who during his first time as governor refused to reside in the brand new governor’s mansion that was built and paid for via donations while Reagan was governor. Reagan never got to live there as it was not yet completed. Brown refused to live there and eventually had it sold. Brown was single at the time and rented an apartment down the street from his office.
Now, thanks to Brown’s idiocy, CA has not had a place for the governor to live for nearly 40 years. As a result, succeeding governors have tended not to reside in Sacramento but rather to rent a place for during the week and come home on weekends and when the legislature is not in session.
Not Arnie. He flew back and forth to work from Brentwood everyday.....then had the nerve to talk about global warming to Californians.
Jerry triple dips his state pensions. The senile Union crony is the final nail into Mexifornia’s coffin.
I’d probably just flip the assets and take off for parts unknown. ;’)
