CAIR: Tax Deadbeat
IBD Editorials ^ | June 24, 2011 | Staff

War On Terror: The feds finally nailed Al Capone — not for murder or racketeering, but for tax evasion. The same technicality may bring down the terror-tied Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Last month, the IRS quietly stripped the shady nonprofit group of its tax-exempt status for failing to file three consecutive years of financial reports. This means CAIR can no longer accept tax-free donations. It does not mean, however, that the IRS has put CAIR under audit. But it's a good first step.

The missing filings — Form 990s — disclose CAIR's donors and other sources of funding, among other information the group apparently wants to keep secret.

After years of denial, CAIR has admitted raising funds in Saudi Arabia, the U.A.E. and other Arab states that use such groups to spread Islamist propaganda in the U.S. and other Western nations. They also use them to lobby against antiterror measures and immigration curbs.

Washington-based CAIR is registered neither as a foreign agent nor lobbyist. Yet it spends a lot of time on Capitol Hill lobbying against the Patriot Act and other laws protecting the U.S. from terrorists.

So what? CAIR has documented ties to terrorists, revealed during a federal trial of a Hamas front group. In 2007, around the time CAIR stopped filing its donor reports, the Justice Department named CAIR among unindicted co-conspirators in the Hamas front group's criminal scheme to funnel millions of dollars to Hamas suicide bombers and their families.

Since then, the FBI director has blackballed CAIR from outreach and is actively investigating its own "connection" to Hamas.

thanks for posting this! i’m glad IBD is covering it.
but, as Cindy noted in “CAIR Loses IRS Status” 2 days ago:

“CAIR has 30 state chapters throughout the country, many of which have their own non-profit designations which remain active.”

so they still get the exemption on the local orgs, who then can indirectly support the national one.
and the national one has no records now...
which is what embarrassed them before.
they are learning, and NOT stupid.
clearly, they never intended otherwise:

” in 2007, the IRS approved a separate tax-exempt CAIR Foundation. The foundation never filed any subsequent reports. “

...again, the Muslim Brotherhood (CAIR), is smart, and have patience, unlike Al-Queda. remember this was their plan 20 years ago.
they have accomplished a LOT of it.

and, we can only guess their new plans...

Perhaps CAIR has not filed for the last three years because they feared having to tell where the money comes from-—and where it goes.

CAIR Loses IRS Status

IPT News June 22, 2011

Donations to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) no longer are tax deductible after the organization was among 275,000 tax-exempt organizations purged earlier this month by the Internal Revenue Service.

The groups failed to file required annual reports, known as form 990s, detailing their revenues and expenses, for three consecutive years. CAIR had been a non-profit on its own, but in 2007, the IRS approved a separate tax-exempt CAIR Foundation. The foundation never filed any subsequent reports. Both the foundation and CAIR national are on the purge list.

CAIR has 30 state chapters throughout the country, many of which have their own non-profit designations which remain active.

One of the most important posts of this year.

If we only had a real President, he would use his office to secure the nation from the psychotic enemy that is islam.

Step 1: go after every single individual and organization like their worst nightmare from every direction using every possible governmental agency from the health inspector to the tax collector and everything in between 24 hours a day relentlessly, get the hounds, get your gun it’s muzzie season.

CAIR has kept its illegal terrorist funding secret for years.

The IRS did the right thing for once.

Now why, oh why, wouldn't CAIR comply with the disclosure laws?

How long has the IRS been asleep at the switch allowing 275,000 organizations to evade taxes through bogus 501(c)(3) status for their political advocacy organizations?

My local gun rights organization is a 501(c)(4) and always has been, but it always seems to be the anti-gun organizations which get (3)'s.
