Just talked with a good friend of mine, but sadly very liberal -- seems irreversible -- told her about the great reviews for The Undefeated, Sarah Palin documentary - her record in Alaska - and I tried to explain to her that she should at least get informed about Sarah before calling her the wilderness barbie.
She then said: OK so she did a great job in Alaska, but is she able to run all US states (in all fairness, she did not say 57..). These people have an answer for everything..darn! What would you say to that - besides telling her that she voted for the one who had so much experience..? I need help here with my liberal friends.
I have an extremely LIBERAL mother, who canvassed for Obama in Pennsylvannia... she has never been as excited for a candidate before. She used to HATE Sarah Palin, but of late has softened her views towards her. I think Bachman has helped in that sense... she seems to hate her even more than she ever hated Palin.
The most alarming thing to me...is she actually likes Romney. I told her I would never vote for him, that said.... I doubt if she’d pull the lever for him over Obama.
Leave your lib friends be... they have enough to deal with given they voted for Obama.
I must have misread your initial post. I didn't realize we were discussing a situation where kissing anyone's ass was in the equation. In that situation, I wouldn't blame you.
I thought we were talking the typical working environment, where the ability to get along with one's coworkers is viewed by most employers as a job requirement no matter what your position. I've had to fire otherwise decent employees who just couldn't play well with others before. I'd wager that anyone on even the lowest rung of management has had to do the same.
I sense some common ground here. My wife is of the liberal persuasion and also finds Romney palatable. Obviously, liberals seem to like him. If that's not damning, nothing is.
And maybe one better Mr Smith...
I Posted a thread right after McCain picked her and I got conflicting answers from "Mil" types.
She may have had a higher security clearance than the other candidates given Alaska's unique 24 / 7 / 365 status and the front line "toys" they use to prevent the Ruskies and the Chi-Coms from coming over the horizon.
But did she have authority to launch? Was she fully briefed?
After some 3 years now does anyone have a deep enough Military background here to say definitively?
Yeah, that's what I mean.
I love it when newbies who have an affinity for RINOs tell me what I mean. It's so cute.

Orin Hatch declared that Ted Kennedy was his very best friend. Unless Republicans learn that selling your soul is not a good deal, we are doomed to lose our Republic.
Compromise is like picking five Commandments, in the spirit of comity.
LOL - you’ve got some great PDS graphics.
I think you can be cordial enough with them when it comes to matters of ‘work.’ But there is no requirement to ‘socialize’ as part of a job description.
I don’t see the situation as being any different than working alongside non-lib people in a scenario where you simply do your respective jobs to the best of your ability without all the water cooler crap, showing kid pix etc. Strictly professional. People do that every day without a problem.
I understand what you are saying about the evals etc. True that if you have a lib HR person or boss then you will get the types of evals you are talking about. But that then places the situation into the realm I was talking about about having to kiss posterior to accommodate libs and keep your job.
I have worked with plenty of Alphas that didn’t play well with others...both over and under them. When I was in a management capacity I cared about one thing. Can the person do the job well? I did not care a whit if they were social butterflies and loved by all who beheld them. Now barring that person doing something really stupid, like legit sexual harassment or decking a coworker, I would rather have that type of employee work for me than a complainaholic that played minesweeper all day and was the life of the party.
The owner of the company felt the same way. The business I was involved in was successful as a result. Too many businesses are run like summer camps, thanks to lib BS and fail as a result. If more people actually worked at work, the social crap, or lack thereof, would take care of itself.
Should that... worry me, maybe...? ;)
Are you on Perry’s payroll? Good grief, lady! If you don’t go on “Palin” threads, I’m wondering what you’re doing here. ???
Sounds reasonable to me. I would also presume that it depends on your position, and the nature of the business itself. I’ve worked almost exclusively with sales, which requires blending the social with the professional. You can send the smartest, most professional rep in the business out in the field, but he’ll never do as well as the rep who treats treats the shops he deals as friends. I worked with such a guy once as I was coming up. Knew the product inside out, but just couldn’t understand why our competitors were gaining floor space in the shops he dealt with. We replaced him with a guy new to the industry, who was just learning the product, but he was just friendlier. We made back our losses and then some.
I see what you’re saying, but at the same time, I could watch a new rep interact with others in the office for half an hour and tell you how well he’s going to do in the field. A guy with a chip on his shoulder, whether it be about religion, politics, class, etc, is almost uniformly going to do poorly. The guy who never met a stranger and never disliked anyone who didn’t dislike him first is the sure bet.
Launch what? It's just an educated guess, but it's safe to say that she could have scrambled defenses on her own authority. Alaska is in a unique position for North American defenses, and she was at the helm.
Now launch something headed outside of Alaska's airspace? No.
Melas, thanks for reeling me in, yes Defensive.
I’ll definitely give you Sales. That’s a job where you HAVE to be all things to all people and a friend to the world. I was coming at it from a ‘closed shop’ position, IE ‘in’ the office/shop/production facility etc.
For sales, my position would be a guarantee of failure.
My husband was union guy who believed their propaganda. It took me years to undo that. They actually believe that unions are for the people, more pay, less taxes, better healthcare.
Wow, you really are a hostile little troll.
Since you have been supporting Newt Gingrich since you got here (retread?) and watching the way you are trolling against the most popular candidate here, and doing it while blaring with neon lights that you are for Perry.
I'm starting to wonder if you are trying to take out Perry, by seeding FR with anti-Perry reactions and opposition research, (which we do extremely well here) triggered by your trolling against Palin.
