Staring blankly into the camera, this is mob boss James 'Whitey' Bulger's mugshot following his arrest after 16 years on the run.
Police in Orange County finally arrested the fugitive on Wednesday alongside his long-term girlfriend Catherine Greig.
Now detectives in California plan to quiz Bulger over claims that he may also be the infamous 'Geezer Bandit'.
An elderly robber who looked remarkably similar to Bulger has never been caught despite carrying out as many as 17 bank raids over the past six years.
Police believe Bulger may have carried out the robberies in Orange County - where he is thought to have kept another secret hideaway apartment - to finance his life on the run.
Although Bulger, 81, is being sent back to Boston to face 19 murder charges, an Orange County police source said detectives would be asking the FBI for permission to question him over the unsolved robberies.
The FBI admitted in 2006 that it was possible Bulger could be the 'Geezer Bandit' but there was never enough evidence to confirm the theory.
One witness was said to have spotted Bulger and Greig at a beauty salon in Orange Country's Fountain Valley at about the same time the first wave of robberies were committed.

Howie Carr was fantastic last night, today may be even better. He does have podcasts which really help.
My heart feels like an alligator.
How many FBI agents and politicians are going to go down when this guy starts talking? What are the chances he lives to talk?
The true lesson of Whitey is that even the vaunted FBI can be as corrupt as any other crime gang. The Boston FBI covered up and virtually “sanctioned” Whitey’s gang’s murders. Read “Black Mass” to learn about it.
Those FBI guys are long retired.
ummmmm... huh?
Howie opened up yesterday on how Whitey planned to murder him.
Whitey was going to chop him up and put him in a dumpster, or shoot him in the graveyard across the street from his home.
Howie then said “ Who could I go to? The Boston cops were on the take, FBI on the take, head of the State Senate was Whitey’s brother, and you didn’t know who to trust in the State Police”.
I thought Santa Monica is in LA County.
It's a line from 'Fear and Lothing in Las Vegas' that means you are happy.
Howie Carr uses it to convey joy.
Those eyes are a portal to a blackened soul.
Whitey even had FBI agents participating in killings for him. I would highly recommend Howie's book about both Bulgers to explain the cesspool that is MA government.
2009 "Boston mob man Whitey Bulger ordered to pay $15 million" for 1981 murder.

Isn’t it amazing how the Brit news does so much better on our news than the US media?
Yes, the UK Daily Mail is my first choice for news.
Unfortunately it seems that half of it’s staff is from the ‘Michelle Obama is the most beautiful woman in the world Press Department’.
This wil be my favorite line today................& my heart does feels like an alligator.............
Does feel, no s..........slightly humiliated.............life..........
I’ll bet there are a lot of politicians and other Ma. state hacks there are sweating bullets that this guy has been caught.Whitey is already playing the media smiling and laughing in court.this is going to be great.get your popcorn ready.

Weird.
Every time I see a photo of that cutthroat, I wonder why I’ve never been pulled in for questioning. The guy could be my brother-—very easily.
Here's a hint to management: pay a bonded moving company to gather the belongings and ship them to the high-tech HQ. Total cost? Under $2,000 thank you very much.

The FBI and any police organization has to maintain whats called the custodial chain of evidence. If a lawyer can ask, Was it ever out of your control? and the FBI on the stand says yes, its thrown out. Unusable. Hence, real agents sifting coffee grounds and labeling trash.
