An immediate follow-up question about the present Black-on-White Hate Crime / Attempted Murder...
Is this counted as one incident, or eight? Each one any of the eight, err, "accused" (innocent until proven guilty, right?) who struck the victim, would have been committing a separate hate crime, right?

The hate crime would have been more serious as it is federal.
When it is black on black you never hear that charge. But let the prep be white and you get the racism charge. When it might just be a simple gang hit or crime of opportunity.
