Between the Lines: Schwarz and Schauer Drawn Out of Old Michigan Seat
Roll Call ^ | June 23, 2011 | Shira Toeplitz and Steve Peoples and Joshua Miller

Republicans plan to pass a new Congressional map that makes Rep. Tim Walberg's (R) district safer for him. But at least one former GOP Congressman from Michigan isn't happy about it.

Former Rep. Joe Schwarz, who lost to Walberg in the 2006 GOP primary, told Roll Call neither he nor former Rep. Mark Schauer (D) are pleased that the GOP's proposed map moves their hometown of Battle Creek in Calhoun County out of the 7th district and into the 3rd district.

"They drew both of us out, which neither Mark or I are very happy about it," Schwarz said in a phone interview. "I think both Mark Schauer and I know precisely why it was done: It was done to essentially make it impossible for the two people — one, a Republican, and one, a Democrat — who would be the most logical opponents for Mr. Walberg to run."

Schauer defeated Walberg in 2008 and then Walberg came back to defeat the Democrat in 2010.

Joe Schwarz (scumbag) He endorsed the democrat last year because he’s still throwing a tantrum over the “far right” stealing his seat.

Well, this means that neither one will be returning to Congress.

Interesting that the RINO apparently planned to tag team the conservative with the full on marxist. Poor little babies got cut out of the herd.

Joe Schwarz is as much a Republican as Carl Levin.

They’re both defeated leftist losers. Mark and Joe can get a room and console each other.

And these two are about as bad as they get. Mark (Golden) Schauer was Nazi Pelousy’s poolboy.

RINO Joe has dedicated the past 8 years of his life to destroying Tim Walberg. When Walberg defeated Schwarz in the 04 primary, Schwarz refused to endorse Walberg. Then announced a last minute write in campaign against Walberg. When none of that worked he was involved in a failed recall effort against Walberg.

In 08 Schwarz’s buddies in the NRCC cut funding to Walberg in the final days of the campaign and left him to lose by 2%. When Walberg ran last year, Schwarz endorsed Rooney in the primary, then endorsed Schauer in the general election.

Trust me, in little Joe’s eyes, it is all about him.

Either could still run. But I guess they don’t think they can win without their home base. Good.

In the case of both Schauer and Schwarz, Calhoun county was their 7th district stronghold due to Battle Creek.

Walberg’s always done well in Hillsdale, Lenewee, and Jackson counties. In my estimation, walberg’s 5% win last year has been transformed into an easy 10% with the change.

Woo hoo! Schwarz is out of my district. So is Schauer. I'm still in Walberg's district, too and didn't get put with Dingell.

I feel sorry for Justin Amash through. He's going to have a lot of establishment problems.

Joe Schwarz is not a politician. He is a "statesman." Susan Demas, the media, and Joe Schwarz say so.

Personally, I've never seen a more arrogant pol in my lifetime than Schwarz, either in person or on TV, except maybe Obama. I'd love to see him shut his mouth for the first time in his life.

Arrogance? This is their philosophy: The elect (liberals, progressives, socialists) know what is better for the people than the people (or the law) do. The elect, due to their moral superiority (definition of a liberal) have the authority to force their views on to the people and the law.

You could say, Arrogance is their Policy. All liberals are arrogant. They can be no other way.
