Yes, he did. He would laugh about it, but he said after that he knew my mother came first in the dog’s affections.
The funny thing is the dog loved my step father too, but when he felt he was forced to choose, he chose the 5’2” petite woman over the 6’ man. He never growled, barked or did anything in any way threatening but he showed them he was there and he was on Mother’s side.

I think it is adorable! The good thing is your stepdad knew he could go to the store, on a trip, whatever... and his lovely wife was being guarded! That is truly a comfort. I know, for example, when my husband is on a business trip that my 110 pound baby makes sure that no harm comes to us. He actually get more protective when “Daddy” is gone. I guess that’s what they do!
