For cops, a concealed carry law turns every traffic stop, public event or encounter with an angry civilian into a nerve-racking test to figure out who might be packing heat and who isn't. Isn't it strange logic? The author says that "many" people would be far too ill-trained to use a handgun in an encounter with a bad guy, but police officers -- who are trained -- have to worry about every encounter with a citizen, for fear they might be carrying?
More news for this author--a "bad guy" will probably be carrying something at all times, regardless of whether or not a law permits it. That's probably the way smart officers treat every traffic stop, with caution and prudence, until they determine otherwise.

It’s Eugene Kane, come on people he’s just worried that the minority gangbangers are gonna have a little harder now, cuz they won’t know if their victims will shoot first.

When I teach self defense I use the shorter version. If you recite it at cadence it equals three evenly timed shots. I tell students to repeat it in their head as the squeeze off shots.

I’ll bet you a buck this pansy has a CCW permit inside of 6 months. He’ll claim that ‘gun nuts’ have threatened him.

More criminals are killed during the commission of a crime by private citizens than by the Police.
No matter how much the guy thinks this is all “Clint Eastwood” Hollywood crap - it is the reality that most of us live in.
When seconds matter - the Police are only minutes away.

Eugene, take a walk down North Avenue on a hot summer night and you’ll see why the rest of us need concealed carry.

Be safe out there. Lately, I have been listening to the Dallas Police Dept on my mobile scanner and I can really appreciate what they are up against. No matter how busy they get, they always sound calm, courteous and professional. Definately some good people there.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2646498/posts This link from my favorite web site has a book review of Korwin's work, and I like the advice you referenced. He essentially says call 9-1-1 almost immediately (my preference is as soon as your hands stop shaking enough that you can dial, which is not an intentional delaying tactic to make sure the predator bleeds out although it may have that unfortunate effect), tell them that you have been attacked and need an ambulance and the police, give your address and then hang up, and then put your weapon down in another room and out of sight as soon as you see/hear sirens so you won't get shot by the police but not until then so you won't get shot by a second criminal. Once the police are there, invoke your rights and (my recommendation - politely) explain to the police that you will answer their questions once you have a lawyer present but until then you do not consent to a search and you are invoking all your constitutional rights. There are a number of variants of the correct responses in his book, but the point is not to say anything that can be used against you and to invoke your rights as soon as you have given a minimal response "I was attacked".
Hint: once the situation is stable and before talking to the police (which you shouldn't be doing beyond a minimum until your lawyer is present), search FR for articles on this topic, search the Internet for the Bill of Rights, and do not say ANYTHING more than needed to establish the baseline that you were attacked, feared for your life, perceived an immediate threat, and are invoking your rights. Don't give details on the attack, don't explain why you feared for your life, don't say how you responded to the threat, and don't mess with the evidence. A dead and presumably armed or otherwise threatening criminal should tell the story. At best it's going to be a miserable day dealing with the initial legal issues, and a difficult month following up - don't make it worse!

—agree—
—had a chat with Alan Korwin at one of the Phoenix gunshows—he indicated that Maricopa County (Sheriff Joe) is at least in the early stages of a program such as outlined in the book for an early review of civilian self-defense incidents, the aim of which would be to protect the shooter, similar to the procedure cops have after any incident—
