DURHAM, N.C. (RNS) It's summer. It's hot. It's the South. That must mean it's time for an old-fashioned camp meeting.
Next week (June 23-26), the bygone staple of the tent revival will be reincarnated on a bucolic North Carolina farm as The Wild Goose Festival. Nearly 10 years in the making, the festival is an attempt to reimagine Christianity for the 21st century under a bigger, wider more inclusive tent.

Christians in name only = XINOs?
Christianity in a bigger, wider, more inclusive tent?????
So, are we bringing alternative lifestyles into the tent????
Exactly what are they saying?????
Do they want to get drunk in the tent???
Do they want casual sex in the tent???
Do they want to change how ministers preach, lest they hurt someone’s self-esteem in the tent????
Do they want a modern language Bible, which would change the wording of Bible verses which admonish us against certain behaviors?????
I’m guessing their Bible is the Maureen Dowd Version, with lots of ellipses that completely change the meaning.
Notice that it is organized around “music”. Woodstock “Christianity”.
I lover beer but I don't worship it.
Jay Bakker is the only name I recognize, him being the son of Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker. Good grief, has it been that long?
Really, this may be a “Goth” Christian event or an alternative tentmeeting for those who are looking for more than material things to fill them up. It is the same with every generation, those who are looking for God but don’t know it.
I was one of the Jesus Freaks in 1970s.
Just remember kids, “liberation theology” is neither.
Wasn’t the “Wild Goose” Howard Hughes’ experimental multi-engine airplane??
Maybe not.
Wild Goose was (is?) the name of John Wayne’s yacht.
That happened in 1988 with the formation of the elca. Since then, and into the future, there have just been stragglers.
Sorry, I was having a bit of fun. It was a rhetorical question.
And, yes, you are correct, it was the Spruce Goose.
Spruce goose?
Spruce goose?
