Just like Margaret Sanger knew would happen.

our business has been hit numerous times, but we have only reported the first two incidents. After that, seems the sheriff couldn’t be bothered with simple property losses.
So far it’s been small thefts (CB radios) about once every couple of weeks.

The Baby Boom has moved beyond their “crime years” and the X and Y generations are such slackers that they are too lazy to steal.

That's my opinion, but I came from the lower East-side of Detroit.

"A lot of crimes are not reported. If your home or car are buglarized and you don’t have insurance, why should you call the police?"

But the question is whether there has been any differential change in that fact. If the propensity to report remains constant, then any drop in reported crime is real. If anything, a real drop in crime should increase the ability of police to repond, and lead to more reporting.

Are you talking about the theory asserted in “Freakonomics”?

That would be my guess but it think it is not supported by the facts.

3 strikes rule making a lasting impact.

Only if wishing made it so... less than 10% of those who qualify under the various state's 3 strikes laws are actually sentenced that way. It due to the lack of bed space and money to house such criminals.

Far too many folks in jail for non-violent drug offenses, those were sentenced under the federal mandatory minimum laws. Where the feds throw huge sums of cash at the states to incarcerate them. The feds have no such program for 3 strikes...

Common sense: less young males. The Baby Boom Generation had the most young males in society. They got older....

The BBC is asking this question?

The same BBC constantly bemoaning American 'gun culture' to the point that everyone is packing a double-sixgun cowboy rig like 'The Old West'?

NOW THEY'RE BEWILDERED HOW CRIME IS FALLING OFF THE CHARTS NOW THAT EVERYONE IS WALKING AROUND LIKE GARY COOPER IN 'HIGH NOON'?!

Seriously, BBC. Lay off the cannabis before you start writing articles. What the hell?

LOL! No mention of the fact that many potential victims are now armed and dangerous. More guns, less crime.

so your arguing 3 strikes had nothing to do with the drop in crime? what is your idea for why the crime rate has dropped?

Just watch or read Freakonomics.

It makes a convincing case that the drop in crime is due pretty much totally to the simple fact that the bad guys are being aborted.

Although law enforcement has been taking credit for the drop, Freakonomics shows that law enforcement has had little to do with the drop.

IF this is true, can we then decrease the Law Enforcement budgets?
My city is trying to break its own 30 year murder record.

But no, ignore th above diagram, BBC. They must insist drop in crime is pretty much all about would-be felons being aborted in-utero, Baby Boomer criminals are just too lazy anymore, and the fact that leaded gasoline is no longer available to poison inner-city residents causing them to commit crimes -- never mind the increased likelihood of inner city residents being killed by airborne lead fragments in the form of bullets fired by citizens who are actively resisting crime.

Progressives must do everything in their power to keep the mention of guns out of the FBI's crime drop statistics, even to the point of claiming credit thanks to their pet cause of abortion.

Though I'm sure that abortion had a significant role to play in this drop in crime, the danger of instant post-maternal abortion is certainly the BBC's unseen 'dark matter' in this equation.

“A lot of crimes are not reported. If your home or car are buglarized and you don’t have insurance, why should you call the police?”

I imagine a lot of Rural crime, which is far from law enforcement and the ears of neighbors, goes unreported. Especially those incidents which were favorably resolved by the armed potential victims; Crime is not reported, criminal is eliminated and resulting in less crime.
