Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin has canceled a planned trip next month to war-ravaged Sudan, one of the most unstable nations in the world and the focus of passionate advocacy within the U.S. evangelical community.
Palin scrapped her plans to visit the North African country for scheduling reasons, several sources close to Palin said. She was planning to travel with Franklin Graham, the son of evangelical leader Billy Graham, as well as Fox News personality Greta Van Susteren to the July 9 independence ceremony of South Sudan, the sources said.

I didn’t want Palin going to Sudan in the first place.

Sudan is a great place to not go to right now. I'd expect
Robert Young Pelton to go, but not many others. Some friends who are missionaries there (for years) just got evacuated.

My take is that between this and the early halt to the bus tour, she’s received some credible DEATH THREATS. What better place to try to take out an opponent than in a war torn area like Sudan.
Don’t forget “they” took out Larry McDonald over the Sea of Japan in ‘83. The 267 others were acceptable collateral damage.

Thank you for the welcome! I’ll be unpacking soon!!!!
This is very interesting news, since we know she truly values traveling with Franklin Graham and Samaritan’s Purse WOW!

Sarah Palin made no news today! News at 11 !!!

Sudan is extremely dangerous. I’m sure she is guarded, but she would need a full presidential guard in a place like that.
I think she wanted to oblige her friend Franklin Graham, who invited her, but just couldn’t justify doing it.

If she went, she would never forget the experience. I traveled to the region in 2006. Roads were still mined so we had to fly everything in. If the mines don't get you, the heat could. If the heat doesn't get you, the crawling critters could. If you survive that, then the Army to the North just may take you. And on and on.
Despite the huge obstacles, the Christians in the South are as on fire for their Lord as any as I've ever seen. Makes me weep at my own faith and pettiness.
One week in Sudan changes people...for life.
